The Dark Knight Rises, is a cynical, darker movie that IMO many females and children would not like or appreciate

Both really good movies. Its hard to compare the two because they're so different.

But to me Avengers hit ALL of the marks it was supposed to hit.

Dark Knight Rises hit MOST of them.

I will be seeing DKR again and copping the Avengers Phase 1 DVD set tho.

I liked both fliks but I gotta go with Avengers>>>>>>>>>>>Dark Knight Rises
Cause I wont even bullsh*t nobody on here, Ima Marvel head man. And seeing all those characters on the screen like that was just too epic imo. Sh*t was like a dream come true & Im hoping this spawns even more movies for some of the other teams. X-Force, X-Factor, sheeeit fuhkit, Excalibur! Lol
Batman sh*t was ill though.

I went with TDKR. Honestly, Avengers really didn't do anything for me. It was good & worth seeing, but extremely over rated. I think the main reason people liked it so much was because of the featured line up. Not to mention the Avengers is basically a continuation of the Thor series. Avengers didn't keep me interested & on my toes throughout the movie, not saying I was falling asleep but TDKR I almost didn't want to end. The story was great, the action was great, the entire feel of the move...great. I'll never understand how some people went to see Avengers so many times....unless you're just amazed by watching a bunch of action, probably the same people that went to see Battleship.
Agreed. TDKR actually had brains to it's script and it felt like I HAD to watch it a 2nd time to digest all the plot (which I did).

I liked Avengers, but I just felt it was a typical summer action flick with not much heart.

TDKR is def >>>Avengers for me, but then again...as fans of these movies we're all winning!

Both based in Comic heros but at the end of the day 2 very different movies that really dont compare to each other with the exception that they are both superhero based...

Im just glad we're getting good quality comic movies....keep them coming!

Apples and Oranges. If you want some good ole family fun... you'll enjoy the Avengers. If you want something darker, A LOT (a lot) of guns and more realism... you'll enjoy TDKR.

As I said earlier in this thread, I think they're both awesome for very different reasons.

To be clear, The Avengers is an AMAZING comic-book movie.

The Dark Knight Rises is an AMAZING Graphic Novel...

There's the difference. One is more colorful, lighter, and more fun. One is darker, serious, and more violent & cerebral. Both are good in their own way. Both of them have their places in comic book movie history.

One isn't better than the other. They're both excellent representations of their respective franchises, and they're both incredibly entertaining movies regardless of tone.

They're both a 9.0 (out of 10) to me. They're proof that there is no one right way to make these films, and that both methods work.

It's only fanatical fanboys who insist upon the idea that there is only ONE good way to make one of these of films.

To say one is better than the other is not saying there is only one way to make a comic book film.

It's just saying one film was better than the other.

Okay, I gotcha.

I think I love them both equally for different reasons. They'll both end up on my top 10 list of 2012 probably.
