I went on a high protein, low-carb, low fat diet and did HIIT cardio about 3-4 times a week. My theory was that if I consumed a high amount of protein, vegetables, a small amount of fat while drinking lots of water, that I'd burn fat fast and preserve muscle. I was losing an average of 5 lbs. a week. After that, I went on for about a year keeping it off, but I got tired of the extremes I had to go through in order to keep it off (at this point, I hadn't realized that weight loss is a lifestyle change). So I did the HCG Program a year later because I'd gain about 20 lbs. (on purpose), since the HCG program is supposed to reset the metabolism to a normal rate while at the same time, losing a lb. a day.
