The only rapper I can see giving him competition this year is Kendrick Lamar. I don't have as much faith in Lupe as I used to. Hopefully he proves me wrong.
yea i haven't given up on Lupe yet but idk we'll see...with them guys droppin and dudes like Reks, Brother Ali, and Skyzoo droppin this year should be dope.

The thing I hate is that it seems like all of Nas' albums get this same kind of warm reception with these same types of comments when it drops. However, months down the line, or a year down the line people start saying its mediocre, wack, lacks replay value etc.

Summer on Smash is out of place..
It's not even a bad song, but I agree. It sort of disrupts the flow of the album.

I'm not feeling it... I really liked Distant Relatives too. One of my favorite albums in recent years. He bores me over hip hop beats. I listened to all the song you guys hyped and I'm only feeling Summer on Smash.
maybe because you have a hard time relating to the inner city nyc feelings. you were expecting club songs.

Man I still like Untitled, Distant Relatives, And SD

I know what you mean tho. Really I think the ppl who like his last few albums still like it.. Their just not as vocal about it than the ppl who dont so it seems like ppl dont like that sh*t no more.

Exactly! I said the same thing in another thread. Dudes saying it was CLASSIC after one listen or skim through. I think it is 3.5/5 maybe 3/5. Def brought the lyrics and flow. Beats are ALL NAS type beats, which is.... meh! I do like the soul aspect of it and the cohesiveness of the album flow....if you feel me, Best album from him since Stillmatic though. Stillmatic>Life Is Good though. The hype is what pushes the stans to rep it hard like "album of the year," or "Ima go out on a limb and say..." or even some cats are saying "Better than Illmatic!" Boxden....where "CLASSICS" happen everyday.

Got some lyrics for the peops that want them...

NO INTRODUCTION

PS-111 had free lunch, embarrassed but managed to get a plate
We was kids hungry, moms working, I was famished, she getting home late
So I decided now I'm in charge, either stay full of starve
Corner store like "Mister, spare a quarter" before Air Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbars
Trying to cop quarters and tried to move that hard, roll with a shooter squad
How could I not succumb? How could I not partake?
Fifteen I got a gun, sixteen I robbed a train
Licked off a shot for fun, what's got inside my brain?
A hustler's job ain't done till he becomes a king
But I'm a righteous son despite I'm in the midst of dudes who switched up and changed
They wanna carry me like I'm some kind of lame, either that or the pistol blow

I remember early mornings, syrup sandwiches, sugar water, yeah
Walking up the dark stairwells, elevators was out of order, yeah
Worth two hundred million now, bicentennial n*gga
Flat screens and condominiums, Brazilian women on Xannies
They pulling off panties; I'm pushing forty, she's twenty-one
Don't applaud me; I'm exhausted, G
Me and my red cup, my blunt and my red cup
Y'all wouldn't know me without when I keep a fresh cut
Remember talking to Biggie inside his Lex truck
Said "Stay fly when you're bummy, keep your pajamas Armani"
Hood forever, I just act like I'm civilized
Really what's in my mind is organizing a billion black motherfu*kers
To take over J.P. Morgan, Goldman and Sacchs
And teach the world facts and give Saadi their oil back

1990s, Polo Ralph Lauren on 'em
Gone a few years, the whole world snoring on him
Girls all up on him; I spread 'em, hit 'em and dead 'em
She says "Third leg from a legend, this year's heaven"
She says "It is the greatest loving"
The tales you hear is the truth on me
Who was it? The most faithful husband
Revealed my life, you will forgive me, you will love me
Hate me, judge me, relate to me
Only a few will, this how it sounds when you're too real
They think it's just music, still
But I am a graphic, classic song composer
Music notes on sheets, I wrote this piece to get closure
SOme of y'all might now Kelis, this goes to her with love
Also goes to y'all to see the craziest things already happened to me
So either you'll be laughing at me or you're laughing with me, ha!
Nas Pen Game is Impeccable. Yo this sh*t is almost more impressive on paper.
At point Nas Songs are Basically pages in a Book, He just rapping it to you .

I really think he could be a great Author.
