i give up on trying to uderstand this salary bullsh*t
It's because the Nets cap situation isn't dependent on the Nets basketball team. With the Billionaire successful and Ratner building a whole complex around Barclays, if the Nets end up being successful and win a chip or two their businesses around Barclays and beyond flourish, the $40 mil they give for salary cap penalty will be meaningless due to the hundreds of million in new revenue and real estate moves they would end up making.
In a few years all the bad contracts will be shed one by one and eventually D-Will and Dwight will either re-sign or deal with the lesser Nets as they are. The Nets are looking to win now and expand the Atlantic Yards area. They'll get under the cap after they get the rings.
