It may be early to throw out the word Oscar, but this film is like hitting a grand slam and throwing a no-hitter in the same game.

Susan Granger - Rating "10/10":

Christopher Nolan saved the best for last, concluding the epic thrill-ogy that began with “Batman Begins” (2005) and continued with “The Dark Knight” (2008), re-imagining the iconic comic-book hero played by Christian Bale and making it relevant today.

On the Granger Movie Gauge of 1 to1 0, “The Dark Knight Rises” is a triumphant 10. Tense and terrific – it’s the best action-adventure of the summer!

MSN UK - Rating 5 Stars:

What did we think?
Epic from the get-go, the final part of Nolan's Batman trilogy may just be his best, combining spectacular action set pieces with thrilling plot developments and thorough characterisation - something blockbusters so often lack.

The story's more complex than it may sound, going back into the pasts of various key characters and examining Batman's own personal demons as only Nolan can.

While The Dark Knight Rises is very entertaining, this is no escapist comic book romp, taking a fairly serious look at life choices and mortality through its tragic hero who's driven on by anger and heartbreak.

Bale remains the perfect choice for this tortured soul, looking more world-weary than ever out of his empowering costume and only smiling in a approximately one scene (well, Cotillard would do that to anyone).

Verdict: An exciting, action-packed blockbuster with brains and bravado: the highlight of the summer's cinema so far.

It's early and there are a lot more to come... And a few have given like a 9 or 8 out of 10... But it's overwhelmingly positive so far.

And I haven't seen a single Negative Review yet, except one guy I'd never heard of who compared it to "Transformers".

Digital Spy - Rating 5 Stars:

Batman finale delivers on the hype

Christopher Nolan reinvigorated Warner Bros's flagship superhero franchise in 2005 with Batman Begins, an origin story that, unlike its series predecessors, delved deep into the mind of Bruce Wayne. Nolan's dared to pose a simple question: Why does a billionaire dress up as a bat and f!ght crime? The answers served up spectacular results, and things got better with 2008's Oscar-winning sequel. A sprawling crime epic evoking Michael Mann's Heat and Sidney Lumet's Prince of the City, the film saw Batman tussle with arch-nemesis The Joker (a stunning final performance from Heath Ledger) while corruption spread like a virus through Gotham's corridors of power.

It's understandable, then, thatThe Dark Knight Rises arrives on the back of deafening hype. It also promises to do something unprecedented for a comic book franchise - bring the curtain down on its three-film story arc with a definitive full stop.

The Dark Knight Rises barely lets up throughout its two-hour, 45-minute running time as Nolan precision-engineers a full-throttle blockbuster with the walloping, Hans Zimmer-backed action sequences of The Dark Knight and the emotional weight of Batman Begins. It's the events of the 2005 series restart that tie very closely to what unfolds in Rises, as Bruce's past and present collide for a jaw-dropping trilogy closer. The Dark Knight Rises is intelligent, heart-pounding spectacle cinema that grips like a vice from minute one and won't let go.

Rolling Stone - Rating "3 1/2 out of 4 Stars" - Same Score He gave TDK:

The sheer scope of Nolan's vision – with emotion and spectacle thundering across the screen – is staggering. The Dark Knight Rises is the King Daddy of summer movie epics.

This new era of crimebusting is built on lies, which is hell on Batman's alter ego, playboy Bruce Wayne, who's been living like a hermit in luxury – all his bat toys banished.

The final chapter in the Dark Knight saga allows Bale to move deeply into Bruce/Batman's troubled soul. Bale, up to every challenge in a tough role, gives a hypnotic, haunting performance.

Just let The Dark Knight Rises propel you into Nolan's carefully wrought maze. You may have to f!ght yourself out. But a movie this potent and provocative is well worth the battle.

^^^I found the majority of his full review to be very glib and corny... Dissapointed in Travers on this one.

Herald Sun Australia - Rating "4 1/2 out of 5 Stars":

THERE is only one word to describe The Dark Knight Rises - epic.

The stunning conclusion to director Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy proves that bigger can be better, with no holds barred as the hugely successful franchise ends with a very big bang
