Asik is so fu*king bad the Bulls better not match this offer. I don't want this bum on the squad.
The Bulls would just be better off finding another back up C & PG that can produce b/c JL III is clearly not answer, Boozer should be amnestied, & Deng needs to be dealt as well.

It was actually the Golden State Warriors who gave him that contract if you remember correctly...he was overpayed because he was a RESTRICTED FREE AGENT, and the Warriors needed to make such an offer in hopes to pry him away from his team and into their small market franchise.

FOR THE 1000th time...RFA causes people to "overpay" (by your standards). But the Rockets have found a way to be creative in the 5-5-15. Yes, the overall contract is high...but he's reasonable for the 1st 2 years...and who knows, maybe Asik turns into Gortat 2.0 and may justify giving him this contract by the end of it. If not, worst case scenario Asik becomes a $15 million dollar expiring for a 7ft defensive specialist.

Not a bad move for Morey and the Rockets...but he has failed miserably thus far with all the hype leading into this draft.

Asik was more of a presence guy than anything. Good shot blocker, decent rebounder. Dude's hands were atrocious though, the Bulls better not match this offer...

If I were Chicago I would take the Orlando route with they did with Gortat and match the offer then try to shop him to other teams to get some pieces. These GM's are still reckless so having that $12m+ in his last year could be attractive to teams who may need some cap relief.

GM's learned nothing from this lockout and players and agents are still winning big time

That would be a GREAT idea considering the Magic are still stuck with Turkoglu's contract and were dumb enough to re-up JRich's as well. And with the D12 situation, I'm sure they would feel a whole lot more comfortable in letting him go if they had Gortat still waiting in the wings.

Before making a decision on whether or not to match, I'd explore some options by throwing out Noah's name before I considered trading an Asik. The more known commodity will net you a higher gain...unless you're comfortable with still paying a Hedo Turkoglu $12 million all those years.

I don't miss points...

You misunderstood two posts...

I know Gortat was a RFA...he said the Bulls should go the Magic route and match Asik's offer then flip him in a deal (as to get some sort of value back). But we all seen how that blew up in the Magic's face, considering they traded Gortat to the Suns for JRich, Turk and Earl Clark. My point was that if you go that route, you can simply get stuck with lower end talents and possibly take on larger sums of $.

I don't think the Bulls can take that risk of going the Magic route.. I can see us asking Houston if they'd perfer a sign and trade not to have so much salary on the books. But I don't see any other teams willing to pay Omer Asik 15mil in the 3rd year of that contract.

Hopefully the Bulls don't match, and best case scenerio that the Rockets would be interested in a sign and trade..Possibly trading us one of the 3 rookies they drafted..

You lost if you seriously think the Rockets are signing Asik to be their "11th man" or even thinking he'd be an "11th man" on any other team.
