NEW YORK- Jay-Z recently sent shockwaves through the music community with a high profile diss record on the Funkmaster Flex radio show, which is broadcasted on New York radio station Hot 97. Jay-Z was reported to be throwing sharp jabs at
Aftermath/G-Unit artist The Game. While The Game and Jay-Z were unavailable for further comments, The Game's older brother Big Fase 100 commented on the situation and had this to say... "Jay-Z never went gold in one week!" While the statement was very short, it shows the tension that is growing between the two camps. Those close to the
situation have stated that The Game is a little bit shook up by the situation considering his album had a stellar debut on the billboard charts and has recently returned to the number one spot after a one week hiatus. He has repeatedly stated that he does not take shots at legends and has said before that Jay-Z is like a father figure to him. Many have implied that it is obvious that The Game is throwing subliminal disses at Jay-Z since he is the originator of the button down shirt fashion trend and he is very closely associated with the Maybach. However, many people are saying that if The Game does not respond
to the diss record that was thrown at him from Jay-Z, he will lose all credibility considering he built his reputation on sending diss records in the direction of other rappers. The diss delivered by "The God MC" was very clear, detailing several
issues that needed to be addressed while he cleverly made references to The Game while using "The Game's" name throughout his wordplay.
In other related news, 50 cent recently conducted an interview on a popular west coast radio show stating his views on G-Unit Records, his relationship with The Game, and upcoming projects from G-Unit artists Olivia and Tony Yayo. 50 Cent addressed a lot of the speculation that him and The Game do not get along. He informed the station that their relationship was
strictly business and he did not know The Game prior to him signing with G-Unit Records. He said tension has started to form because of the business side of the music. 50 informed the station that he was a large part of The Game's success and he was responsible for a large portion of the writing on the album. It is well known that 50 Cent penned the hooks for several of The Games smash singles as reported on popular hip-hop site sohh.com and several other publications. It was implied that there was a little bit of a dispute as to who should be receiving certain publishing since 50 Cent played such a major role in the writing of the album. 50 Cent informed the listeners that
The Game had been signed to Aftermath for two years prior to the release of The Game's debut album "The Documentary" and he was called in to bring creativity to the album since The Game had hit a wall, and his project was not headed in the
right direction. It was noted that The Game reached out to DJ Whoo Kid who is the official DJ for G-Unit, and asked for help on gaining a direction for his album. At that point 50 stepped in and formed a joint venture with Dr. Dre to executive produce
the album. 50 Cent commented on Lloyd Banks relationship with The Game, stating that they did not have a relationship. That further increased the speculation that there is serious tension between The Game and the rest of the G-Unit family. Female G-Unit member Olivia is set to release her first official album on G-Unit Records followed by a full album from Tony Yayo. 50 claims Yoyo’s album is the best out of all the records that have been released and he continued to reinforce that he saved the best for last. He reassured everyone that Yayo would outsell The Game's release and possibly come
close to his debut "Get Rich or Die Trying”.
Bad Boy South artists Boyz N' The Hood have been creating a stellar buzz for themselves throughout the mixtape circuit and
several freestyles and appearances. Most notably Young Jeezy, who is signed to Def Jam through a solo deal, has been flooding the mixtape market with his material. Jeezy recently released Trap or Die along with DJ Drama, and it is said that it is already being labeled a classic mixtape. They are receiving very good reviews on their music and it is said Boyz N' The Hood's debut album should be a major release for Bad Boy Records.
On the RnB side, the hottest up and coming RnB singer in the game seems to be red-hot artist Yara. Yara has already appeared on several high profile mixtapes and she is fresh off a feature in the largely popular FHM magazine. Yara has been featured on a number of remixes and it is said she is bringing a lot of new flavor to RnB music. The reviews to her music have been very high and it is said the fact that she has super model quality looks, along with a beautiful voice only adds to the attraction of hearing her music. Yara should make a huge impact in 2005. Male RnB singer Houston apparently gouged his eye out while on tour in London. Before gouging out his eye, Houston apparently made an
attempt to commit su1cide by jumping out of his hotel window. Before he was able to make the free fall, his security guards grabbed him and forced him inside. While it is unclear whether or not he had an accident or he actually gouged his eye out in an attempt to ki1l himself, many are stating that he suffers from bi-polar disorder and he was unable to control his actions while away on tour.
