BUT you can't make any moves for 2 years. Yes they will be expiring contracts in 2013-2014, but the scenario will be the same. Expiring contracts usually only net you undesirables.

I don't think Washington's pockets are unlimited. They should have just eaten the 14million. Now they take on an extra 30million for these two guys and if they amnesty Blatche they will have to swallow another 23million. Thats a tough one to swallow.

Nene, Ariza, Okafor, and Blatche are owed 84million dollars over the next 2 years. Think about that.

Is Wall more likely to stay if we go 25-57 two years in a row with an extremely young team or if we go 40-42 two years in a row and win a few playoff games?

There's no guarantee we will get a great player with our top 10 picks anyways if we continued to suck.
so Wall's options are 25-57 and 40-42

might as well say peace out to john wall if you think f!ghting for the 8th will keep him around

f!ghting for the eighth seed >>> f!ghting for the number one pick

No big free agents are coming to D.C. this year or next probably anyways

Cleveland got the clippers lotto pick just for taking on Baron Davis's contract and we all know how that pick ended up being Irving Wiz fans been so blinded by EG's curtains that they dont realize how to stay a step ahead and be innovative in the nba. We should have the tenth pick for clearing their cap problems and somehow making ours worse

OKC built a squad off young guns and cheap vets, not overpaid past their prime players. And fu*k outta here with that 8 seed bullsh*t

okc didn't build sh*t, they just sucked and got lucky enough to get 3 top 5 picks

we tried that sh*t and it didn't work out
didn't build? Durant fell in their lap and Westbrook and Harden were great draft picks. Yes, being sucky helped, but like we are trying to say: You have to suck to build

An example of how Sam Presti did his job and made great moves:

Magic were going to sign free agent Rashard Lewis. They were competing against themselves. People thought it was going to be around 5 years 80million. The Magic were idiots and felt the need to over satisfy their new signing. They want to give him 6 years and 118 million. A max contract. 6 years was only achievable if you resigned with the same team. So the Sonics/Thunder/Sam Presti agreee to facilitate the trade. They get a trade exception in the deal

So he has a trade exception. What did he do?

He flipped it to Phoenix for Kurt Thomas and 2 1st round picks (they wanted to shed Kurt's contract to save money). So now they have 2 1st round picks for basically nothing.

Then Kurt Thomas is flipped for a 1st round pick to the Spurs

Now he has 3 1st round picks for what really should have been nothing. It resulted in the Thunder having 6 1st round picks in a 3 year period. That is building while you suck. Those extra picks helped acquire the rest of the squad including Serge and Thabo.

You can take on payroll if you add true a.ssets for the future in the trade. Draft picks are a.ssets. Young talented players are a.ssets. Overpaid players who nobody wants are not.

There is a 0% chance Wall will stay if we have 2 more seasons like we did next year.

WTF is cap space worth if no superstars want to sign with you?

Besides Ariza and Okafor's deals come off the books in two years anyways
This is false. There is probably a 95% chance Wall stays after the next two years regardless of the teams performance. Guys don't go looking for NBA glory until after they get that first big deal and are financially secure. When those two years are up, Wall will be a restricted free agent. He will look to sign a long term deal and the Wizards will match whatever is offered. The only way he gets out soon is if he plays on a one year deal at the qualifying offer in 2014-2015. That is not going to happen. The Wizards still have John Wall for another 5-7 years. Most likely 7

They have time, they did not need to panic

If we buy out Rashard Lewis and amnesty Andray Blatche who do we give this sacred free space money to?? Dwight Howard? Is he walking through our door? Is Tim Duncan salivating to come to a lottery team? Overpay for Jeff Green? No big time player would want to come to a consistent lottery team. You have to win first. If we win for the next two years then we can try to bring in someone big. By that time Okafor/Ariza will be off the books and John Wall/Brad Beal will be established players. We will be attractive.

just for the highlights, hope they make a play for j.r. smith

ready to run it with them on 2k13

good sh*t by the Wizards... giving their fans some hope and a reason to watch

Hopefully Wall can develop and Beal is the Real Deal

This.

Also John Wall can't leave when his contract his up, he will be an RFA and the Wizards can just match any offer. Tanking for the #1 pick is a lot better than making it as the 8 seed.
