hes slightly above avg.. His name carries more weight than his actual defending talent.
I wouldn't mind having LeBron on pretty much any player in the league. But he's just good, not great or one of the best. But he is one of the best off ball defenders because of how much ground he covers so quickly. And he thinks a step ahead of a lot of players. For ex. he'll close out on a shooter and then jump in the passing lane for the swing pass instead of just focusing on stopping the shot, he's already thinking of stopping the pass. His on ball D is highly overblown though.

Exact reasons why I consider him overall as a good defender.. not great.
And thats all I was getting at.

@RG3 also made a point that I tried to make, he just presented it better.

This is just stupid and Ibaka should keep his mouth shut when talking about one of the greats, a guy who can guard all 5 positions since magic.
Yes LBJ is an above average defender but that that last comment is retarded. Off the top of my head I can think of Kenyon Martin, Shawn Marion, AK47. That's just from recent memory. I'm sure there has been more guys that can guard all 5 positions it the 20 year span.

In response to both of this posts, yes I think he's overrated.
That doesn't mean I can't think he's still a good defender.

How fu*king hard is that to understand @TH35

People build him up to be some defensive guru who was the first player ever to guard all positions at different points in the game..

In the Celtics series alone, there was another player, who in his prime, did the same thing.
His name was Kevin Garnett.

Watch him play defense.. Melo torches him the majority of time, Durant does what he wants for the most part and shoots right over the top of him, Luol's slow a.ss drives by him.. A lot of the players get the shots they want while he's guarding them.

He gets all this credit because of chase down blocks.. and because his worthless role players, as everyone always calls them, bail him out. Most notably and under appreciated Joel Anthony.

Everyone calls him a GREAT defender.. in my opinion, great defenders dont take plays off to "reserve" their energy for offense. Great defenders can guard all game long. All this sh*t about how its too draining to play both sides all game long is bullsh*t.. (LeBron complaining when he had to guard a 4 for 2 games straight, all game. He's 6'9" 270 and he can't handle guarding some 4s who he's bigger than )

these athletes are getting paid to play basketball. ur job is to be in shape.
If ur telling me u can't play all-out, both sides for 48 minutes a day, then thats wack to me.

I can keep going, but 1. people are prolly already gonna post didnt read gifs 2. its pointless cuz I'm not gonna change anyones mind, cuz everyone on this site is pig-headed
a lot of bullsh*t you jus wrote

Thats fair enough about the sample size..

but take into consideration.. when he started guarding him:
1. either at the end of the half after Melo had 2 sole purpose defenders on him, or at the end of the game with the same circumstances applying and more time logged

And 2. that Melo was forced to shoulder a huge load.. with Amare, well being a dumbass. No real point guard. B Diddy going down. Iman doing down. No Lin. Offensively, he had to try and score 40+ a night for them to have a chance. Thats a lot to ask.
Especially versus a team who plays overall, really good defense.
Propped for objectivity.

Lebron is a pretty good defender tho for real. and he has the advantage against almost everyone because he's either stronger or more agile than almost every matchup, doesn't make too many mistakes either.

Game 3

ibaka - 5pts 5rbs 2blks--- embarrassing
the king - 29pts 14 rbs, 2 or 3 a.ssists.. forget

Game 2

ibaka - 7pts , 4 rbs, 5blks -- decent defensive game
james - 32pts , 8rbs, 5ast

Game 1

ibaka - 10pts 6rbs 0blks -- keep your fu*kin mouth shut
james - we can stop looking at stats

Seriously nothing makes me more angry then people that are average talk sh*t about greats.

Where did this fu*king myth form that Lebron can guard 5 positions???

Is that the reason Melo lit his a.ss up for 30+ almost every night..(@ the 3)

Is that the reason Jason Terry lit his a.ss up last finals (@ the 1/2)

Is that the reason KG lit his a.ss up this ECF (@ the 4/5)

Defending all positions is shutting down that position.. Like Jordan on Divac, like Kobe on PG(westbrook, parkers, rondos) etc..

You n*ggas bunch of Lebron Sperm Tongues

Spo told Bron to front kg while sagging of Rondo. Don't try to hype that old praying manthis looking a.ss n*gga. If Rondo wasn't your pg, he would look like Pau Gasol.

Bron guards 1 thru 4. ALOT closer to 5, than 1 or 2 positions. Obviously he's not guarding d12 or Bynum, but he would unlike Melo or Urant.
