MANILA, Philippines – Alex Ariza, the strength and conditioning trainer of Manny Pacquiao, expects the Filipino boxer to take on his greatest rival, Juan Manuel Marquez, in a fourth f!ght instead of engaging Timothy Bradley in a rematch.

According to Ronnie Nathanielsz of Boxing Scene, Ariza believes Pacquiao will f!ght Marquez for a fourth time this November, instead of exercising the rematch clause that he has against Bradley.

Last year, Pacquiao escaped with a controversial majority decision victory over Marquez in a f!ght that many felt he lost.

Just last week, it was Pacquiao who fell victim to a controversial decision when American boxer Timothy Bradley was named winner via split decision in their welterweight clash.

Pacquiao has said he wants to f!ght Bradley again, but that rematch has been put on hold as their controversial bout is now being reviewed by various parties, including the Nevada State Athletic Commission, the Nevada State Attorney General’s office, and the World Boxing Organization.

Ariza told Nathanielsz that he believes Pacquiao will f!ght Bradley in a rematch only after the fourth bout against Marquez.

Ariza is also disappointed with the report that there were many unsold tickets for the Pacquiao-Bradley f!ght last Saturday, saying this may affect the negotiations for a potential Pacquiao-Mayweather mega-bout.

“How can you go to Mayweather and ask him for a 50-50 revenue split?” Ariza asked.

During Pacquiao’s training camp for the Bradley f!ght, Ariza was involved in a spat with head trainer Freddie Roach, after Ariza left Pacquiao’s camp in Baguio early to work with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in Los Angeles.

The dispute was eventually resolved and Ariza was included in the Roach’s list of four cornermen for Pacquiao’s title defense against Bradley.

Manny Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum wants fourth duel with Juan Manuel Marquez - Telegraph

The split decision – two judges scored the contests 115-113 – was slated around the world by former champions and seasoned observers as one of the worst even seen.

Arum's view is that Pacquiao dominated the first f!ght with Bradley to such an extent they will simply move on. “I don’t want to do a rematch,” Arum told The Las Vegas Sun.

“This f!ght was a one-sided f!ght. If it had been scored properly, 10-2 or 9-3 [in rounds], who would be asking for a rematch? – Nobody. Just because these officials screwed up, that doesn’t justify a rematch.”

Pacquiao, 33, and a Congressman in The Philippines, where the mood has been one of complete indignation at the scoring, is now expected to move on to a fourth challenge against the Mexican great Juan Manuel Marquez in November as calls for a f!ght with Floyd Mayweather continue to be ignored by the long-time promoter.

Arum, the 80 year-old promoter, has asked the Nevada State Attorney General and the State's Athletic Commission to investigate the scoring of the Pacquiao-Bradley f!ght, while the WBO themselves have called on its own five-man panel "to review" the scoring.

f!ghtER of the Decade Manny Pacquiao and Top Rank promoter Bob Arum have both confirmed the Manila Standard Today exclusive that the Filipino ring icon will f!ght Juan Manuel Marquez in November and not go for a rematch with Timothy Bradley, whose split decision victory last Saturday was met with international outrage.

Pacquiao initially indicated he wanted a rematch with Bradley, but later on told a Spanish TV network that he would prefer to battle Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez a fourth time, possibly even in Mexico.

Arum said that while there is a rematch clause in the Bradley contract, it’s up to Pacquiao to decide who he wants to f!ght next. But he added that since he thinks the Filipino beat Bradley easily and won a hugely controversial majority decision in his third f!ght with Marquez, he believes Pacquiao will take on the Mexican one more time.

Meanwhile, US Senate majority leader Sen. Harry Reid, himself a former boxer and member of the Nevada Gaming Commission, told Fox Sports that it was clear to everyone who knows anything about boxing that Pacquiao won the f!ght with Bradley.

However, Reid doesn’t believe that the unacceptable result was due to corruption, but said he would like to see a thorough investigation, which Arum has asked the Nevada State Attorney General to formally undertake.

Reid’s victory in the last elections was attributed to the last-minute campaign appeal by Pacquiao to Filipino-American voters at a Nevada rally to support the senator, for which the Democratic leader, a close friend of Arum, was grateful.

Meantime, Ring Magazine’s editorial board has decided to maintain its pound-for-pound rankings, with Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. tied at No. 2, with no No. 1.

The magazine, which is owned by Oscar De La Hoya, who had called on Bradley to return the World Boxing Organization welterweight belt to Pacquiao and to proclaim him the winner said: “The absurd judging that gave Tim Bradley a victory over Manny Pacquaio on Saturday night in Las Vegas forced us to at least consider making important changes in our pound-for-pound and welterweight Top 10s.”

However, it noted that “the vast majority of those who watched the f!ght believe that Pacquiao won handily, which raises the question: Should he be victimized a second time by The Ring just because two of three judges—CJ Ross and Duane Ford—blew it?”

In the end, though, Mike Rosenthal said the Editorial Board decided to break from tradition and do what was the right thing: Completely ignore one of the worst decisions of our time as it applies to Pacquiao.

“We left things as they were, with the exception of having Bradley enter the welterweight ratings.”

If I was Pacquiao I wouldn't want to f!ght Bradley again. Fucc that. Why get pimped out like that.

No offense to Bradly. This is tough on him. Hopefully he stands tall and doesn't let the haters make a bi*ch out of him.
Pretty much. His BIGGEST boxing accomplishment ever will ALWAYS have a big asterisk next to it sucks for dude.

I'm just trying to figure out why he wants to f!ght marquez again. He wants a 3rd controversial decision over the guy?
