so today i received an email from the branch manager that interviewed me last week as a courtesy email as well as called me saying they thanked me for my time and that he was impressed with me. he thought i was a good fit for the position and wanted to know if the regional manager had contacted me for the final round. the branch manager from another location had called the district manager, who also interviewed me the same day and time..the district manager also sent me an email to inform me that the regional manager was currently out of state and they are now down to the last 2 candidates for the position, making me number 3. the branch manager went on to tell me that one candidate had banking experience from wells fargo, but he lacked personality and the bm didnt think he was a good fit. i was surprise to even hear this insight from the bm, but i did. there is also another candidate that was a branch manager for chase and she is also competing for the same job as me.

its just comerica now..regions notified me that they have chosen another candidate to fill the position. its probably for the best, since that particular branch is 30 minutes away from me and the comerica branch is only 4 miles from my home.

i see alot of finance jobs online especially craigslist. i know capital one has openings for finance jobs. the only thing open at the pearland branch where i want to work is branch manager, but there are personal and business banker jobs for comerica around town. also loan specialist, lend a.ssistant and a.ssistant branch manager...if you have a little management experience or maybe none, i would still apply for an abm position..at least it would be a small stepping stone..they may work with you better since you have a finance degree..you may have a big break just like i am waiting on lol. i have a management background from companies i worked for in the past. the pearland branch just hired the a.ssistant branch manager in may and i met her when i had my 1 on 1 interview with the branch manager from friendswood and district manager of 6 banks. from what i have been told, the houston market is in a shortage of employees..maybe because people left after comerica took over sterling banks, i dont know, but that is my guess.

I have been looking through Indeed , Simplyhired , Careerbuilders and the schools system. The analyst positions are the ones that I am going for but they require experience of at least 2 years . So I have to start as an entry level banker , and work my way up from there . I have applied at Chase , Wells Fargo , and Comerica. Plus I have already turned down jobs with smaller advisement firms , because the end goal is to be an Investment Banker , and certain firms and positions are frowned upon .

Haven't really though about Craigs List will look into that .

i would stay away from chase and wells fargo jobs..chase is very greedy and cut throat. known too many people who have worked for chase and had bad experiences as well as myself being a customer. as far as job search engines, i would leave careerbuilders alone, too much junk and most recruiters are not on their looking for candidates. i learned this from a corporate recruiter. dont even waste time with monster either. i had jobs that came from craigslist. i still would aim high if i were you and apply for financial analyst jobs. not sure what offers you have been given, as for me i havent been made any offers, probably because im not looking for entry level work. if you are looking for personal banker jobs, they are all over the city..every bank is hiring for those right now(big or small bank). i havent come across a bank that is not looking for personal bankers.

If u have to go the personal banker route, go to chase...HUGE HUGE internal promotions + their bonuses pay the most..my friend makes like 45k-50k at chase being a banker..granted hes at a pretty high volume branch...they start u in the low 30's for base but u can do it..plus theirs ALWAYS promotions at chase..i would go there if I had to go the PB route

met with the regional manager and he was impressed with my background in various industries and my personality..went on to tell me that the opportunties of advancement are available and a regional vice president currently in dallas, came to comerica without any banking experience..i was informed that a decision will be made by sometime next week. the other male candidate took a higher offer with bank of america, so its just me and the chick from jp morgan chase to choose from...

interview seemed to go well..i was interviewed by a branch manager from another location and the district manager at the same time. they asked me questions based my prior management experience, what style of management do i have, problem solving scenarios, and sales experience. i was advised that typically the position is based on a person with banking experience, but they have been open to finding new talent to develop even more with the acquisition of sterling bank this year. i was told that i would be contacted by a regional manager, who will make the final decision, for another interview. the pay for the position is $62,000 plus bonuses, and i would be working anywhere between 7am-6pm monday-friday and some saturdays from 8-12. i would do some local traveling as well and i could relocate with all expenses paid if granted a promotion and willing to travel. would also have the opportunity to become a district manager within 2 years, based on performance. district manager's salary starts around $95,000.
i used to be in banking. i like banking cuz of meeting ppl all the time. you come across a lot of interesting ppl. plus when you have a good team, i think banking is one of the most easiest jobs where you can do okay w/o much stress.

i hate them interviews tho. they have these dumb standard questions that p!ss me off. its like cmon, put the paper down and lets talk real life. get to know me. its like these hr recruits are robots. ive been blessed to be able to bs my way thru any interview tho. i think hr would be a cool job, you get paid mad nice and you can have fun with it.

Try doing some volunteer work / contract projects to fill in for some experience.
