it's getting real quiet on BX since lebron and the heat are dominating again....................his 2009 postseason was the greatest and he's doing it again hakeem got a first round exit in 4 games so it's not that impressive. bron is doing this through 10+ games...........

everyone trying to ignore his greatness this year, he's doing things jordan, duncan, shaq, kobe, etc. could never do...................

and don't complain bout player efficiency rating. it's the best stat to show how great someone is playing..........

speak on it
he is doing everything execpt...........

like you said...some of these guys had great

Player Efficiency Ratings, and didn't even win that year! This stat, by itself means.....what? if you don't win it all.

NO ONE will EVER look back and say....."boy the Heat lost again in 2012, but Bron had a great PER"

PER is meaningless like anything john hollinger has to do with...foh with that bullsh*t
tired of comments like this.

Hollinger is the stat guy for ESPN.

ES fu*king PN.

So to say his stat dont mean sh*t, even though, the conglomerate we know of as ESPN uses it, is not exactly correct.

It's a statistic, just like any other one. People actually do exactly what you said they don't. Bring up the 2002 World Series, and what do people talk about? The Rally Monkey and the fact that Barry Bonds WENT THE F*CK OFF.

So we gonna act like Jordan ain't the greatest and his "best" season is only 6th?

That should just make PER invalid from this point on. LeBron already had the 3rd "best" run and didn't win sh*t so what does that say?

I truly feel sorry for every basketball "fan" who values PER to determine everything. sh*t is getting worst than baseball with all the stat heads.

Does LeBron win rings or does a team win rings? Let me know.

because as an individual Lebron and teammate you can't ask more from LeBron. One individual doesn't win championships ...it takes a team!

That ring sh*t is the lamest sh*t I EVERRRRRRRR heard. It doesn't take away from the FACTS (VERIFIABLE EVIDENCE) that he is one of the greatest players of all time.

But baseball fans and culture live and die by stats. A large amount of them don't even believe in clutch. They don't think the moment plays a role, they just think what every the batting average and all the many other stats are just concrete fact. But we all know some n*ggas just ain't built for the moment, no matter what sport it is. But basketball fans are seeming to be turning into stat heads like that. It's sad actually. To limit greatness, enjoyment, etc. on what a sheet of paper says.

Every sport boils down to winning. Few players can reach high level of greatness without winning, LeBron is one of them of course, but it'll always be held against him. Ain't that just like Malone? Ain't that just like Barkley?

I respect PER a lot more than most, but you can't have an iconic playoff run without it ending with a title IMO.

Huh?....all of the stats from that season, post season and World series are all overshadowed by the main stat of Anaheim winning the world series.

but specifically in basketball, i NEVER remember anyone EVER bringing up the PER stats of a losing player in comparison to the team who actually won the chip.

Doesn't tell the story though. Lets say Brandon Jennings shoots 7-20 right? Let's say that he took 2 whole court shots at the end of quarters. Are you really gonna hold those 2 shots against his effectiveness and his talent? Let's also say he took a shot at the end of a shot clock that his teammate placed him in a horrible possession and he was forced to catch and fire. A miss goes to Jennings, but the fault actually goes on the guy who passed it to him. Lets also say that he got fouled on one of those shots but the ref didn't make the call. Talent never made the refs blow the whistle, he's just fu*ked into a miss at that point. Take those 4 misses off and he's 7-16 which is pretty respectable. coming from 7-20 which isn't good. Stats tell the truth, yes he took those shots, but anybody with eyes won't hold those misses against him.

What about hitting a guy for an open shot but he doesn't make it? What about him getting fouled and still getting the point? What about when a player hits an open player and he makes the extra pass to a guy who scores? No a.ssists are credited but those were still plays made by that player. So again stats don't show that.

I watched Kobe, World Peace, and Blake do a damn good job in boxing out the bigs in games 2 and 3 of the Thunder series. They didn't get many of those rebounds, but hitting that guy so he doesn't fly down the lane and jam it in off the rim was HUGE. You don't get any statistical credit for that.

LeBron in that huge game he had in game 4. He grabbed the very last rebound of the game. Players were already walking off of the court, and he picks the ball up and the buzzer sounds a half second after. Yea he got that rebound, but did it have any impact on the game in the slightest? No. That gave him the exact stat line as Baylor. What if the buzzer would have sounded prior to picking up the ball? Would that make LeBron's game not as good as Baylor's since he had one less rebound?

I can go on and on man. Stats don't nearly begin to tell the story of a basketball game, a players talents, etc. That's why coaches have guys keep track of things as simple as, how many times did a player box out, or set a screen. That stuff is a major piece in putting together a championship team but goes un-glorified in statistical value.
