The fact that they put Yo Gotti's "Touchdown" as Memphis anthem is so disrespectful to this city. n*ggas betta pay homage to the REAL King of Memphis, Playa Fly.

We all know that, but obviously Vibe did NOT do their homework. When they left off Ball and G, no reason to even read anything else. Their list is sh*t, and I shouldn't even be surprised by it anymore.

Why n*ggas keep tryna move the D in the top 5 and take da N.O out.Besides Em,Dilla, and Big Sean ain't nobody else is makin no noise The D is lucky to be in the Top 10 IMO
Detroit is up there because of it's influence on music period. If we're just talking about MC's then i agree with Detroit not being top 5,but when you add in sh*t like the Motown sound,Parliament funkadelic, and even Techno it's hard to keep em outside the top 5.

I can't argue with this list. Thought my city may have been top 5 but really no city to knock off.

I will say this though the underground Detroit Hip-Hop scene is tragically underrated, from cats I grew up listening to like Rock Bottom(Big Herk- Guilty as Charged one of the great hip-hop albums ever), Street Lords(Blade, Juan>>) Eastside Chedda Boys, classic acts like Awesome Dre, newer acts like Danny Brown and Stretch Money, Dusty McFly, Helluva, Lodge Boys, DoughBoyzCashout(hottest in the streets), lyrical cats like Quest Mcody, Marvwon...

Don't sleep Detroit could easily be in the top 5.

And New York may be overrated they really haven't made much new noise in the last 10 years that's a. Whole era who they got to show the A.$.A.P crew??

Most Important Hip-Hop Cities

11. VIRGINIA BEACH
Rappers Who Rep: Clipse, Pharrell Williams, Missy Elliot, N.E.R.D., Timbaland
City Anthem: The Clipse “Grindin’”
Unofficial Mayor: Pharrell Williams
Why It’s Important: Hear that Neptunes sound? Besides the Clipse championing coke rap, V.A. Beach is a hotbed for dope producers. Timbaland rose in the mid-’90s, laying monster tracks for everyone from Ginuwine to Aaliyah, Jay-Z and Ludacris, while Pharrell and Chad Hugo produced almost half of what was on airwaves and paved a landscape for newcomers like Odd Future to break sonic boundaries.
Im glad to see the 757 get some love but n*ggas do not fu*k with Pharell like that....and Missy is from P-Town, N.E.R.D isnt rap at all....

NYC writer has to be. As much as grew up on eastcoast rap it fell off and ATL has the most influence today you can't deny it. LA should be not even in the top five real talk.

Keyword was Hiphop Top 25 in HipHOp

Yall D town n*ggas stay tryna take us out the top 5

No n*gga Influence in HIP HOP N.O.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> D town and its not even close
If you wanna talk strictly hip-hop,

Any producer that does jazz-esque beats cites J. Dilla as a major influence, if not THE influence. Dilla influences producers all over the world from the U.S. to Japan.

1/2 of the Cool Kids, Chuck Inglish, is from Detroit area, and his beats/style pioneered the hipster rap and culture of today.

Eminem goes w/o saying.

You can't talk top lyricists in the game w/o mentioning Royce and Elzhi

Combine that with the fact that Detroit birthed Techno (most beats nowadays have a technoish sound to it) w/ Motown (who's music gets sampled to death) and Detroit is a very important city in hip-hop.

Not tryna take anything away from N.O., but don't short sell Tha D.

Hmmmm....They forgot No I.D., LEP Bogus Boys, Legendary Traxster, Shawanna, and Da Brat out of Chicago.....

They shouldn't have made Virginia Beach a lone city, shoulda just said 7 Cities VA...they all got the same area code they threw in Missy whos from Portsmouth and the Clipse I thought were from Norfolk (Or maybe im thinking that cause thats where I used to ALWAYS see them n*ggas! lol ) ...But they Left out NOTTZ Raw (Norfolk) and Lex Luger (Suffolk)...And mean hell evne the Buddah Borthaz (R.I.P. DJ Cool Law ) was the fu*king business out here Hip Hop wise...
