I found a hole in my Saul theory, if he loved Carrie that much, and wanted her away from Brody so he could off him as his patsy, why have her in the building that gets bombed? Unless he and Brody are in cahoots. Which hasn't been hinted towards at all really. But that would be the only explanation.
The thing that struck me weird with Saul too is his sh*t eating grin at the end. It wasn't a, "thank goodness you're safe", or "I was worried about you" smile. It was a Mr. Burns, "Exxxxxxxcccelllent" smile. Dude nearly broke his cheek bones. That was out of character for a worried friend. Especially how he finished his prayer or whatever that was even though she was calling his name. A truly worried friend would turn around right away.
i dont think he had the Mr. Burns look, i think a part of him knew that she was alive (or at least hoped so). when he didnt see her name on the list he leaves a message, when he wife asked about her he says "go on", almost not wanting to admit it or come to grips. then hearing her calling him (he might not of heard the first time, or maybe one of those cases of you hearing a loved one's dead voice)
it looked like he saw a dead person at first and then when he realized its really her, his face lights up
