Had no idea he was even making an album let alone put one out. It's a shame runs house probably wasn't getting ratings for mtv anymore cause if it was I'm sure they would of been backing him.

I will say this though. Folks put way too much emphasis on first week sales and talk about them as if they're the ceiling for an album. There have been albums that didn't sell well in their first week then eventually went on to go Gold or Platinum. Robin Thicke's second album only sold 20,000 copies its first week then when Lost Without You dropped as a single the album took off and went went Platinum.
that dont happen nomore for hip hop albums

in hip hop your first week is your biggest week 2nd week is 50% drop off
only person that dont do that is m&m

back in the day it was different juvenile did 80k 1st week with 400 degree and that sh*t sold 4 mill copies....them days are dead tho

name a rap album to do that since 2009

They should have pushed another single before dropping the album. Shouldve put someone like TIP or Nicki on it. WOuld have had cross over appeal and got him out there a little bit more

Indeed, but I believe one of the biggest reasons why that happens is cats panic and pull the plug when things aren't " successful " right away. Instead of regrouping and choosing another single, doing in-stores, promo tours, etc they just pull the plug and drop their next mixtape. So now instead of bringing more interest to the previous project people are gonna move on to the next sh*t. Folks used to " work " albums. That doesn't happen now.

dude needed a better first single. the formula was there but the single sounded like some sh*t from a movie sound track. his promotion was a.ss and these record labels somehow think that twitter followers = sales. even the dumbest people on the net know how to get music for free these days

Once diggys music caters to an older audience, he'll do alot better
Right on the fu*king head. I kept telling my my mans that dude needs to grow up and start talking about sh*t that at least 21 year olds talk about. I'll check him when he's talking about getting wasted and fu*kin n*ggas' hoes. Girls around his age is listening to "Ass" right now, that bubblegum/hello kitty sh*t ain't gonna sell.

These dudes never learn, if you started off trying to be skillful, and got your buzz that way, that's what everyone is expecting from you when your album comes out. You come with some soft sh*t, especially someone else's style, say bye to your future in rap. You only get one first impression.

No, that is not even the case here. Plenty of rappers dumb down. Lupe said he wouldn't, and he eventually did. Diggy's singles weren't very good, and didn't appeal to anyone. No one was fu*king with him. Dude didn't even have a fanbase. They tried to push him out as a black rap Justin Bieber so fast they said to hell with any type of artist development.

I'm gonna say the only reason they even put his sh*t out is cause of who his dad and uncle are. They knew this n*gga wasn't gonna sell.

Honestly I think that because his buzz went down since he hadn't really been in the spotlight for minute, his debut lost serious steam. Awhile ago when he had the guest spot on Mindless Behavior and Jacob Latimore and was touring with them, if they would have put out the album then plus he have on some good guest features it would have done better. The best thing now would be to pick up some guest spots on other artists' tracks to gamer more attention to his album.

Diggy is corny. That's why he went wood.

But for real though ..... the only Rapper who is the son of a Rapper that went on to be successful is Cory Gunz and Lil Romeo.... nobody's checking for Lil Romeo anymore and Cory Gunz can't get YMCMB to put out an album. At the end of the day it's hard to take a son of a Rapper, Rapper serious.
