Coaching is kind of overrated in the NBA. Larry Brown went from back to back finals to a 60 loss season, Doc Rivers went from a 60 loss season to a title. They didn't suddenly get a lot better or worse, they got/lost players.
that argument goes both ways. Look at a guy like Rick Carlisle, he took the Pistons from 2nd worst record in the NBA and brought them to division titles etc.. He was an instrumental part of beating the Heat Last year; probablly the biggest reason that they won was because he made amazing adjustments during the series. All the heat stans (right wrong or indifferent) all blame Spo for the fact that they lost. Look at the Zen Master, it's not JUST the talent that he had that brought all those players together.. Same for Pop, they haven't had the same players year in and year out but they're always good.
A young team like the Knicks with a bunch of enigmaic a.ss players need a good coach far more than a team like the Celtics. talent gets you pretty far but even in the NBA great cocahing gets you over the hump
