He'd be right, except for the part where Starships wasn't ever said to be a hip-hop record. Ever.
Nicki Minaj might be a sellout, but that's something else entirely. I would rather be Nicki Minaj the Pop Star and sell out than be Nicki Minaj the Female Rapper and nobody buy my albums or take me serious. Let's be honest here, even if Nicki Minaj spat fire and was on a GOAT level, how many of you would take her serious? Would Peter Rosenberg take her serious? Nope. Don't even front.
Whats more ridiculous is rosenburg pointing out the obvious and sounding like a chick having a debate with other b*tches about how much nicki sucks. I mean there is no debate on whether the record is pop or hip hop, its captain obvious. In all reality, to say nicki is a sellout is kinda ridiculous. Her biggest single is pop. Its obvious that she has quite an interest in making pop music and this goes back since the begining (with singles like "right thru me"). Why is this so sersious again?
There are only a handful of artists out there that people really give a f*k a bout and the music they make (Jay, kanye, Ross, etc). Nicki is still yet to fully establish herself and find her true identity as an artist.
