I do agree that Lin got lucky because of the system he's in, but he's performing at a high level within the system. Even Steve Nash had between 3-4 turnovers EVERY game within this system. You talking like he'll average 7 turnovers a game forever, that will OBVIOUSLY have to drop in order for him to sustain solid team play. And it most likely will, it's not a matter of physical ability, it's a mental part of the game that any smart PG can improve on.
Chris Duhon's numbers were no where near as close as what Lin is putting up...and Felton shot a horrible a.ss percentage. Those PG's played completely different from Lin too.
I watch Lin play and it's clear that he plays a smart game and puts the offense in good positions. I don't see why he can't develop into a Steve Nash like player... he's a 6'3 PG, that's a huge advantage.
People talking about his downfall has to answer the question of, what part of his game is going to go away that's he's shown?
You bring up Derrick Rose and Rajon Rondo as comparison's of who he'll never be... that alone tells me where you meter is on the knowledge of this discussion.
i agree lin plays smart MOST of the time. ive said 9 times hes down to earth. hes also made some dumb a.ss plays, and tried to do too much, which we're watching right now with him taking bad shots and turning the ball over. but people will say "everyone has a bad game".
and is that really your response to me bringing up derrick rose and rondo? lol look at my post history. i been here for like 10 years, and i damn sure dont talk out my a.ss. i didnt say he will never be this or that. i said hes not them RIGHT NOW. i only brought them up because there was another thread titled "point guards lin is better than" and people were saying hes better than rondo. thats insane to me. did i say is was you? no.
hes shooting an unreal percentage off the bat, thats not going to stay up there. thats a fact. hes not ray allen. its one thing to play off adrenaline, and have this extra energy. his legs arent going to be there soon enough for him to be making all the jumpshots hes making. as for a.ssists, if a point guard has 8 a.ssists and 7 turnovers, do you consider that a good game? yeah hes had a lot of a.ssists but to me thats a wash because his a.ssist to turnover ratio is all that matters, and its terrible. hes also below average on d, which was clear when trying to guard rubio.
i dont say sh*t just to say it. i also dont hop on bandwagons. if i dont think someones going to have this success a month from now, its not being a hater. its being a fan of basketball and giving an opinion.
