For those who don't want to run cables across their house the solution is simple. This is what I use to my PS3 and it is fast as hell. Powerline AV Network Kit

But after searching around I think the GTA issue is NAT type...it's a Rockstar game and just like RDR if everyone in r party isn't the same NAT type...then you aren't playing together
like I said in the other thread, it's because of the number of people on your friends list. it has nothing to do with nat type, or putting your ps3 in a DMZ. changing your internet setting will do nothing to fix this. I played GTA4 online everyday in the summer of 08, and I can tell you for a fact that this wasn't an issue until sony updated the firmware to allow more people on your friends list.

those are just a couple results from a quick google search. it's a well known issue. how it went this long without a patch, I have no idea

wow im surprised yall barely finding DMZ mode. i fu*ked around with my router setting years ago and seen that DMZ mode gives you a OPEN NAT for gaming consoles.

tha thing with DMZ mode is that it puts the machine ip address out side of the firewall to open all ports so do not put ur PC in DMZ mode.

i've been doing this since black ops came out to make sure i had the "open" nat type ...theres like 800 videos on youtube about this for every brand of router...

DMZ is great for consoles. Since they're locked down there's no way for anyone to harm your machine. Do not do this for PCs, though.
