Can someone from N. Carolina tell me what is up with the blue in the state's teams? I mean I know it's only UNC & the Panthers (that I can think of) but is it something significant?
I ask because I know in Pittsburgh the Penguins, Steelers & Pirates are black/yellow for the city's flag:

Most likely it's all just coincidence, it's not like they're the same shade of blue
but if it was for a reason only thing I could a.ssume is that the two professional carolina teams which are fairly new just followed tradition since UNC is pretty iconic and popular ( second highest selling sports team branded apparel in the world behind the yankees ) , the reason why UNC chose blue is also kinda unstated but I feel it has to do with the fact that the Iconic Old Well on campus has a light blue top and the "original" european architectural site where most of the campus's landmarks are copied from has a pretty identical old well with a blue top. I dont know why that old well has a blue top now, that's as far as my logic goes.
