I love how the children on this site show their age and lack of real rap knowledge without even trying.

No Limit, Cash Money & Rap A Lot make you sound like a dumbass.

Most of the older ppl on bx realize that most fashions are nothing more than a cycle from the past. its the early 80s all over again

This is how they dressed.

[pic - click to view]

The mid 80s become about flashing chains, early 90s which was huge movement that the thread pic missed was all about a black power movement. Chains and shirts of Africa lots of red and green colors everywhere.

Early to mid 90's look was the best. d!ckies, Carharrt, the beanies, timbs, or chucks, sh*t was simple.
It never stopped...and you left out
flannels, Polos, Rugbys, Kangols, ball caps, Air Maxes, Jordans, Ewings,

yo remember when n*ggas was rocking overalls and then damn hats that you tied up on the end with a string?

It's all good...n*ggas was all dressing like fruity a.ss super heroes in the early 80's tho! They was on some costume sh*t from the 70's still (i.e. Earth Wind and Fire, Parliment, etc..)

No one really wears skinny jeans where I'm from anymore. We wear fitted jeans (Levi's 514s size sh*t). I only still wear my skinnys because I don't have money to just stop wearing them because they're going out of style. I only have 3 514s so if I did I'd only have 3 pairs of jeans

So yeah. Skinnys will prolly be fully dead by this time 2013.

this....
plus this was before Run DMC in the advent of drug dealers had a huge mainstream influence

when n*ggas was dressin like that, Hip Hop didnt have a defining, iconic style of dress

that androgynous and hair metal style of dressin like Full Force and Grand Master Flash was kinda across the board for all pop culture in the 80's. Every body had fu*ked up hair, tattered clothing and eyeliner, that was just the protocal for lookin like a "star" back then

Ice-T, NWA, and Run DMC were some of the first to deviate from that sh*t, and from there it just kinda had that tower of babel effect where each city had its spinf on the basic template; Fresh Kicks, loose gear, jewelry, and dope haircut...

I'd say the 3rd pic was around the time i stopped actively participating in hip hop culture, i just wasnt that eager to evolve with the culture no more cause sh*t was getting outta hand, besides as long as i can remember i dressed more closer to the second pic with less layers of clothing

Remember How that Trick Daddy video caused an explosion in n*ggas wearing race car jackets downsouth, that was cool, in fact that era ofthe south from about 93-2003 in general was the best.

its funny how I RARELY ever saw n*ggas with dreadlocks back then but as soon as wayne blew up with the carter its like 3/4 of the south just decided to stop gettin haircuts.
