Jan 21 - Ron Paul’s “South Was Right” Civil War Speech With Confederate Flag

[pic - click to view]

Ron Paul has made no secret the fact that he thought that the South was right in the Civil War. Here he is giving a speech in front of a giant Confederate Flag about why he believes the North was wrong in the Civil War and why the South was right.

Ron Paul is a neo-Confederate, and proud member of the Ludwig Von Mises Institute, which has been labeled as a neo-Confederate organization. In the video he claims that the North should have paid to buy slaves from southern slave owners to avoid the war, rather than the South renouncing slavery. Paul also fails to bring up the fact that it was the South that started the war by attacking the North in 1861.

Ron Paul was also was the only member of congress to vote against honoring the Civil Rights Act Of 1964 in on its 40th anniversary in 2004. Paul would also claim that he wouldn’t have voted for it at the time, putting him on the side of the racists in both the f!ght against slavery and the f!ght against Jim Crow segregation, the two defining struggles of Black people in America.

Several Ron Paul supporters have asked that the video be taken down, from the pro-Confederate channel, Patriot Review but Patriot Review believes that the video could help Paul win South Carolina. If they do take it down, Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs has downloaded a copy of the video.

So freeing slaves has giving this country more problems. Instead the slave owners should have been paid to free slaves. That eventually being fascist would be a thing of the past and it would run its course if you let people have there choice. Smfh how can anyone support this fu*king guy.

Nice job trying to twist his words and make him look like a racist though. You fools are grasping at straws.
He said the something in that video he did in the one draped in the confederate flag. Why should we spend money to free slaves when they tried to make laws to abolish it? The South didn't want to end slavery. The war wasn't entirely over slavery but part of it was. So I should pay u to free someone from r*pe torture and other inhumane things?

Yet Ron Paul haters want to make him look like a racist who wants to bring back slavery cause he didn't support the Civil Rights Act.

All he's saying is there wasn't a need fodr war to end slavery... but that's how it went. Same with his beliefs on the Civil Rights Act... we shouldn't need laws to tell us segregation is bad, and in a free market those who believe all men are created equal wiont support a racist/discriminatory buisness.

But you all see this as "he wants to bring back segregation", "he supports slavery", and "he's racist"

We could have spent far less money freeing the slaves by just paying for them, instead of going to war over it... and having it be the bloodiest war.

Use $$ to buy the slaves than free them >>> go war for far more $$ to free them

Is basically the jist of it.

Yea give them money to buy slaves then what? They get more slaves and you buy those as well? The south had no intent on make slaves free period. U talk bout this free market would make it where peso pile won't support a business who support racism. Look no further then the diamond trade, the oil industry, and pharmaceutical industry. Something u can't believe man will do the right thing. Racism is one of those things it's 2012 and you still have rascist people in powerful position. They use loopholes to get around there rascist ways.

shouldnt need them is different from not needing them

good luck with the kumbuyah stuff if you think without the civil rights act things would have changed

look how it took until the 1990s for apartheid to end in south africa

this country still as much as people want to put there heads in the sand still has a racial problem

Besides the body count, think about all of the people Lincoln had locked up because they spoke out against the war. Think about all of the structural devastation resulting from King Lincoln's goons, namely Sherman burning everything from court houses to banks in the south. It's great that slavery was ended, but I'm sorry if I don't just blindly accept the idea that we "had" to lose 600,000 Americans.

The civil rights was only needed because of another gov't program (jim crow laws). If there was not Jim crow laws there wouldn't of needed to be a civil rights act.

I really hope you are not comparing apartheid to what happened here. They are not comparable for numerous reasons.

No one says racism does not exsit, RP has never said that. No one says the free market will make everything 100 pct better from day one. However its better than what we currently use.

Civil rights movement was done with the right ideas but a lot of the problems the black community faces today is due to that well intended act. Blacks in that day were better off staying separate, getting their own sh*t together, supporting black businesses/schools and than transitioning to integration. That is what happened with most other cultures that moved to this country.

As you said their is still a lot of racism and race related problems, so clearly that model did not work as intended.
i cant do it youre to old to be this stupid

and you have to love boxden the hindsight is 20/20 on the civil war now

Kinda just proved why it was needed.

Jim Crow laws were at the state and local level. Federal government left it up to "states rights", and Jim Crow Laws were the result. So civil rights legislation at the federal level were needed in this case to undo what the southern states were doing when given the freedom to do so.

You clearly do not understand waht happened in South Africa. Do some research before you look like a dumbass.

Explain why other countries that abolished slavery without a war, without a civil rights act did not go the route of South Africa?
the u.s. was primarily agrarian in the south it was moves towards an industrial in the north thats the primary reason for the civil war not to free slaves

the entire southern economy was based around slavery name another developed country during that time that had its entire economy based on slavery.

by the time the emancipation proclamation was signed slaves were walking off of plantations they freed themselves for the most part

if it wasnt the civil war then the revolt in haiti would have happened here to it wasnt a matter of if but when.

so there i explained it in simple terms stick to making an a.ss of yourself talking about sports

I'm not saying that I support Ron Paul or don't think he's racist, I honestly could care less..

But the jist of the argument is that instead of the North saying, "fu*k you guys, free your slaves," they should have been like, "Here's some money for those slaves, now it's a law you can't buy any more."

The fact that slavery was horrible and inhumane doesn't change the fact that people from the South lived a completely different life than people in the North, and facing complete bankruptcy forced upon you by someone who has no idea how you live pissed people off.

Yes, the Civil War was over slavery, but not just slavery itself; it was over people feeling like their lives were being ran by someone who didn't understand how their lives ran.

Yes, owning slaves (of any race) is terrible. Yes, they should have known better. But ending it the way it was ended wasn't the best solution.
