You don't see a slight difference between a company's server being directly hacked, thousands of account info stolen due to their sh*tty security vs. someone finding random email addresses and then guessing the password?

that's how anyone or anything gets hacked...this is not news

you find an email and use something like access diver to try a bunch of passwords on it

There still isn't proof that this is THE major security flaw. It still points 100x more towards users being unaware of their own account security.

This is now big news! Good job AnalogHype we got it!

People get hacked all day. My OG AOL email got hacked into the other week. People are good at guessing passwords. It's not like this is some new discovery or alarming news. Social engineering happens all the time, people get hacked, accounts get compromised. It's the consumers job to stay on top of their own money.

I'm not on Facebook or Myspace and my Windows Live ID is not tied in with any social networking website. But I could still easily have my XBOX account hacked just like the rest, because people get their hands on information such as a database of valid Windows Live ID's and then they brute force the passwords.

So just as a friendly reminder, change your passwords often, especially the ones tied to accounts with money or credit. Use an upper-letter character, special symbol like @ # $ etc and some numbers. Also if you can don't use easy words, use random letters.

I mean it's both really...yeah they are getting in through Windows Live BUT they are buying stuff on People's Xbox Live accounts...so it's really affecting both...and I'm pretty sure the main point of the article is that MS HASN'T fixed it yet even though it takes about 5 minutes and 3 lines of code... the point is it isn't fixed....

This still isn't really a hack...just proves that both Sony and MS are fu*king idiots
It's not both. In order to log on, you login with a Windows Live ID. It's not an exploit of Xbox Live. Ya'll n*ggas can holler that all you want.

It still doesn't change the fact that this can be fixed in 5 minutes.

Its also a good idea to have passwords as phrases not just words with special characters.

It's not an Xbox exploit though, so it's not both. They are brute forcing their way into Windows Live accounts. What they do after they have the account is not considered an "exploit."

I don't know why Microsoft hasn't patched it. Maybe you should send them an email.

If you read the article, we contacted Microsoft and they gave us the run around. Microsoft transferred us to Xbox, Xbox transferred us to Microsoft again and they told us they don't deal with Xbox problems.

I feel ya and yeah its not a live exploit...but it does affect live...and I don't realy care that it exists I don't have my cc stored on my live account... in fact my name on there is First name: Yes Last Name: No and that email a.ssociated is ONLY for live so if they get my sh*t enjoy I'm not worried...

Probably because you started talkin that "my Xbox account has been hacked" nonsense instead of saying my Windows Live account has been taken over.

Why are phaggots in here acting like this is an Xbox exploit? This is a Windows Live exploit. On top of that, Microsoft can correct this in 5 minutes.

Gay n*ggas still mad they couldn't log on PSN for 2 months.

that psn sh*t is long passed so why would it matter today?

and why doesnt microsoft take the "5 minutes" it requires and fix the problem..instead of not doing anything about it and not allowing people to take off their info while others are getting hacked

wouldnt be surprised if microsoft themselves are taking money from people's accounts and disguising them as "hacks" knowing their fanboys are too stupid to do anything about it
