Classic late 80's and early 90's Southern Hip-Hop like the Geto Boys rode the coat tails of the east coast's sound for years! It's natural to be influenced by different regions. That's what makes hip-hop amazing.... is that it keeps on changing and reinventing itself. This fool is a hater. ASAP and co always pay homage.

Detroit doesn't have a distinctive "sound" when it comes to rap just like most other cities..
pretty much, well not a sound you would want to claim, anyways the top artists in detroit arent trying to imitate a style of somewhere else. the battle scene is what influences most detroit rappers , all the punchlines, out of the blue metaphors. You cant really say it was jacked from new york when their style of battling isnt the same.

I agree with this guy. Those of you that don't agree just don't get it. I know so many NYC dudes that want to be from ATL or Houston so bad. They love reppin NYC when they're NOT there. But they hate that sh*t when they are there. It's a fu*king joke.

Not at all, man... You're probably not old enough to comment on this thread.

I love the Geto Boys and all but they were clearly influenced by East Coast Hip-Hop, as were all Southern groups in the late 80's/early 90's. Everyone was in that era! It was unavoidable. They had DJ cuts on their chorus's and had hard sample based beats. The southern accent was prevalent but there was an undeniable NY influence on virtually every song.

Does this track not sound like East Coast Hip-Hop in 1990?
