I know skins fans aren't tryna do a retread of older qb's, but this is Peyton fu*king Manning. If we get a shot at Peyton, Im more for that than drafting a QB this year. Give me 3 years of being a title contender and our defense+Peyton would be something else

I've been done with the skins since bout week 10 but damn this thread got me dreaming again

So you're saying you don't think the Niners would improve with even a HEALTHY Peyton Manning?

If Manning could stay healthy for 2-3 years, that's 2-3 Super Bowls for the Niners

Alex Smith is not an NFL QB. Sure, he might have been good in college, but it's taken him 7 seasons to be an average (at best) QB? Really? GTFOH.

Now, I don't know if he's going to continue to improve, level out, or decline back to what he was, but either we have to make a move for QB in the offseason or give him until the trade deadline to prove he can contend at an NFL level. If not, I'm sure we could piece together some sort of deal to help in that area.

As for Peyton, I'm not 100% sold on him considering he is still injured and whatnot, BUT if he was healthy, wanted to play in the NFL again, AND would sign with the Niners I'd be supportive of giving him a shot. Our offensive line is fairly young (I think we have one dude in his 30's, one in his high 20's, and the rest in their low 20's) so maybe they just need some more experience or whatnot. Or it could just be that they aren't that good at protecting the passer. Either way, we would have to shore that O-line up somewhat to protect Peyton. Not only because he's an elite QB, but also because he had neck surgery and we would need to protect him as much as possible. He's already shown he make make passes and plays, but I'm not sure how much he has left in his tank.

If 100% healthy, I'd say, at the very least, attempt to pick him up. Hell, maybe Smith would get better with someone like Peyton "teaching" him. Who knows, but what I do know is Smith is a big part of the reason why we can't score or move the ball offensively. Our running game can only do so much and our WR's need a QB who can make throws in order for them to make plays. It's no secret that our defense and special teams are our bread and butter with our offense only having a few good plays per game. In today's NFL, the offense needs to be prevalent more so than what we've done so far this season.

On a side note, I truly believe if we had a QB who could make throws and plays our NFC game against NY would have gone a different way. Think about it, if we had a QB to do that then maybe we could've put up another TD or two along with maybe a FG or something. We could have been a little more comfortable with the score and maybe Williams would be focusing more on protecting the ball rather than trying to make a play. I don't blame Williams 100% for that game because if our team was better that probably wouldn't have happened, but if Peyton is available/healthy and we can financially handle his contract, I think it would be unwise not to at least pursue him. If we don't get him, it's no big deal; there's nothing lost. if we don't even try, then we'll never know what he could have done for our team or we would find out from another team who picked him up.

Texans would be best in my mind.

Think Peyton does work in Domes, houston is a dome, hed be able to face the colts aka farve type of revenge.

They have both Offense and Defensive talent.

Andre Johnson, Owen Dainles, Aarain foster and Ben tate there is alot of depth and good depth at that.

He'd be able to do his own thing there as well, and think if Manning wanted to he could have Jeff Saturday and Reggie Wayne come with him as a package deal that team would EASILY win that divison.

Hearing from a league source the Seahawks will come out, checkbook blazing, for Manning. #Jets

Seahawks are willing to not only pay Manning and sign Wayne, but also adjust the offense to what Manning is accustomed to running.

I wouldn't mind it

with the defense and offensive weapons... 2 ships minimum
That niner defense is going hunting.

However, don't forget who suggested Peyton to the Seahawks first

Everyone was saying that BEFORE he was cut tho

He's meeting with the Broncos, Cardinals and Dolphins last apparently.

@ArmandoSalguero: Told Manning's decision is basically #Cardinals or #Dolphins. Elway would have to fashion a DRIVE type rally to get him
Chris Mortensen ‏ @mortreport
Manning's trip not a negotiation; does not reflect Broncos as 1st choice, per sources. It's Manning research. Other trips planned. #NFL32
@AdamSchefter: Peyton Manning's trip west to Denver is expected to include other visits, such as the Arizona Cardinals"

I'm saying everyone knew they weren't gonna keep Manning with that 28 M bonus even BACK THEN with all the questions about his health that were coming out

And neither of those teams are involved

Yet the team you don't think he'd go to the most, is apparently the favorite
