ya I knew this would be the general response before I said what I said. but, I think you can argue the recession is a more complete album.
I disagree with that too though. TM101 is the most complete project Jeezy has imo. EVERY track is about what the album is centered around & it executes the sound perfectly. Production. Subject matter. Album flow. It's not considered a classic for no reason haha...

Funny how no one tells Ross, Drake, or Kanye to "change their flow"

Look...no one's saying you can't think its not a good album. But goddam....I mean even with WTT it took me a week to fully appreciate the album. It took me a week to appreciate the Recession too

To judge an album on one or two listens is crazy. Not saying you can't pick up on a classic instantly...but the albums that usually sound great early are the catchy ones that you forget about in a month

I really don't see how anyone can say this isn't a damn good album at the surface...I mean what song can you really say is bad? Some of the songs we've already heard...so we can skip past it. But if I'm sitting there listening to an album and I hear the intro, OJ, I Do, 38, Trapped, Just Like That, FAME, and All we Do...I don't see how I could turn around and say it's a wack album or the worst of the 1st 3. Like with all Jeezy albums...people will appreciate it after time
agreed. I haven't heard this album yet but most of the people who hated on the recession when it first came out are the same n*ggas who are now puttin it up there with tm101... biggest complaint I always got was that all of the tracks sounded too similar... and I'm hearin the same with this album now... so we'll see how this ages

it's not crazy to say recession is jeezy's overall best poject...
When I 1st listened to the Recession I was like

Now to this day I'll still play that sh*t all the way through. Once the album grew on me I played it everyday at one point and to me it's arguably his best project.

And tbh when I 1st heard TM101...I wasn't feeling it as much. I thought that Boom Boom clap sh*t and Soul Survivor was too typical. But overall I grew to understand and appreciate the album...especially Standing Ovation and Air Forces

That was my criticism of the Recession too but I mostly skipped through it. It was only when I listened to it on my ipod and really put my ear to it that I was like . Now when people say the songs on the Recession all sound the same I'm like

Jeezy has the kind of style and trap sound that will make you feel that way in the beginning. People say that about every Jeezy project until they actually take time to listen to it

it's considered a "classic" by a small community of trap rap fans that jumped on the opinion...
I didn't even say the recession was better either. I said it was arguable. I think it has a more versatile sound (overall) = to or better production and his bars are a lil more polished..
...No it's pretty much consensus that TM101 is a classic. It's withstood the test of time. It doesn't have a skippable track. The production is perfect. The subject matter is versatile (relatively). It gave a lot of cats their sound. The influence can still be heard today from an album almost 7 years old. What more do you want from it?

I said it was arguable too, dunno where this is comin from

His growth as an artist on The Recession is undeniable true, but I gotta say if I had to take Jeezy at any point in time it would be that one...

Funny, the end of 103 is exactly how I thought the entire album would sound. I remember bein a senior in high school bein hyped as fu*k due to Lose My Mind & Scared Money. I kinda wish the entire album did sound like the last 5 tracks.

1 track to go & 103 hasn't been a let down since I didn't get my hopes extra high. Gotta listen again but I think TOD II >>> 103 still.

Glad I preordered it, worth the money no doubt...

jeezy has a album that resonates with a large group of people (in the hood for the most part), that's why it's stood the test of time. jeezy has never pushed the envelope as an artist. you could almost say he's a below average lyricist, who makes catchy bangers (over dope production). that ain't enough to be "classic". I think "hood classic" is more fitting. music classic ? I don't think so son. as ignorant as that may come across. the level head will understand where I'm coming from.
You just refuse to give Jeezy credit Since when did the demographic belittle the influence? As long as there are hood people there will always be a set of people who can relate to it. And since there always will be a hood there's really no point in bringing this up. It doesn't matter who you relate to as long as the sh*t you spit is real.

This is like saying Pac only appealed to struggling Black people and since he doesn't go out of his way to relate to other races the influence of his music is meaningless. Before you throw a chair, NO I'm not comparing Jeezy with Pac. I'm just saying, the demographic part is pretty much irrelevant.

I understand where you're coming from, but everything you ask for from a classic is what 101 encompasses. It doesn't matter what type of classic it is, because even if it is just a "hood" classic it's still a classic. I don't even like putting asterisks next to the word classic. A classic is a classic.

Do you think KING is a classic?
