[B]So you're saying Westbrook wouldn't sign a max FA contract?

If Westbrook went to New Orleans, he'd sign ASAP.

Who says Dwight would be going to Boston though?

He'd go to a few teams before yall.
ASAP? No he wouldn't. He'll most likely get near the max in OKC, they just went to the WCF's.

And if Boston did pull the trade for CP3, why would dwight still go to a few other teams before boston at that point?

Considering we will have the Bird Rights to Allen & Garnett, what other contenders at that point would be able to give him max money in FA?

Some of yall are wildin. No way CP3 and D12 go to boston, and yall get to keep Allen/Pierce/Garnett??

The thunder idea seems logical and actually could work since Westbrook could be a franchise player for NO, unlike Ronhoe or Billups/Fields

How little do things change? Its been a while boxden, figured I'd pop my head in and see whats "new" here since the lockout ended...yet its the usual suspects talking out their a.sses once again. I'm not going to address MosDefinition, since I'm sure he's still hurting from last nights loss to the Saints and from the current state of his Nyets.

But I do want to address the other know-it-all, KSoraci...

How can you speak on the new CBA, when you couldn't even comprehend the old? In what world would you be able to sign your own RFA's AFTER you've already used your free cap space on other teams Free Agents?

I hate how you speak of "facts", but never use them yourselves. Here's a fact...those RFA's also have a cap hold as well as your remaining empty roster spots, yet I don't see those numbers included in your math. Ever here of a cap hold?

You guys are all entitled to your opinions on whether or not CP3 will be a Knick, or where Dwight will go, or whatever...thats fine. But don't shoot down others opinions with your "facts", when they are not factual at all.

Carry on...

If a team is under the cap by 4million and wants to resign 2 players who they have bird rights to for a combined number > 4million, that doesn't mean they HAVE to sign those 2 players first.

They can sign somebody else for that 4 million and use the bird rights on the two players after they are over the cap.

Indeed. Just keep in mind, those pending FA's have what they call a "cap hold" which counts against the cap overall. You'd have to renounce those players in order to free yourself of the cap hold.

Here's a little "fact" that may help you understand...

What is a cap hold?

A cap hold is the amount of space a free agent counts towards a team’s cap. These “cap holds” factor in when a team signs free agents. If they didn’t exist, a team could use their cap space to sign other free agents until the space was gone, and then re-sign their own free agents using the Bird exception. A cap hold cannot exceed the maximum contract offer that player can receive on the open market (as defined by years of experience – indicated in the table above by MAX followed by the years of experience). The cap hold disappears if the team renounces their own free agent, that free agent signs with a new team, or re-signs with the same team.

Take a look at the chart provided. Garnett has a Max cap hold in 2012 and Ray Allen is at $15 million (not to mention Pierce's max cap hold and additional year)...in order to actually free up that cap space, you'd have to renounce the rights to both Allen and Garnett. Can it be done, sure? Will you still have them on your squad as you proposed? If they signed the vet min...but then you're just as "delusional" as us Knicks fans.

if they wanted to win more chips don't see why KG or Allen wouldn't take the Vet min. KG already made a sh*t load of bread (i mean you can never have too much money). Those two taking a paycut makes much more sense than CP3 taking one
