10 Other Artists Birdman Should Sign To Cash Money Records

Cash Money, as B.G. once rapped, is an army. If you need proof of that, just look at the artist roster that Brian "Birdman" Williams has a.ssembled. Outside of the label's heavy hitters Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj and mid-level talent like Tyga, Jae Millz, and Cory Gunz, Cash Money has also signed a handful of hip-hop veterans to the label recently. Included in that list: Bow Wow, Busta Rhymes, and Mystikal. The thought is that these vets add some extra credibility to the label while, at the same time, helping to make them relevant again to the general public. It's a win/win scenario for both sides.

But the recent Busta signing, in particular, was interesting. In theory, the fast-paced New York MC should have enough clout at this point in his career to be successful without any help from Cash Money. But it's clear that he wants to use the extra push that he'll inevitably get from the label to give his career a second life. And that got us to thinking: Which other artists could benefit from a cosign from Cash Money? So, we put together a list of ten artists that Birdman should sign to the label. Hey, crazier things have certainly happened, right? These are ten artists that we think Birdman should take to the bank.

The Artist: Soulja Boy

Why Birdman Should Sign Him: We actually thought this was going to happen a couple of months ago when Birdman and SB were spotted kicking it outside of a tour bus. But it never did. That being said, Birdman should push for this to happen and Soulja should be open to the idea. Soulja has a ton of Twitter followers, a loyal fan base, and a real appeal amongst young people. But he needs to have a better approach to the game, which is something we think he could learn from Birdman. That way, he won't be stuck selling 20-something-thousand copies of his next album.

The Artist: Kendrick Lamar

Why Birdman Should Sign Him: K. Dot is still looking for his first major label deal. And if he had to sign anywhere right now, we'd give Cash Money the advantage. Why? Well, for starters, Drake essentially handed him a million-dollar endorsement by slotting him on Take Care. Additionally, Drizzy's been cosigning dude for a second and Kendrick actually just did a remix to a song with Cash Money's latest signee Busta Rhymes. We think Kendrick would add a lyrical presence on the label and balance out some of the other acts they've got signed right now. Plus, we want to hear this guy's debut album sooner rather than later and we think Cash Money could actually get that done for us.

The Artist: Paul Wall

Why Birdman Should Sign Him: Like Soulja Boy, Paul Wall was rumored to sign with Cash Money a few months back but never did. We're not sure why. We love the People's Champ, but the Houston rapper's career has stalled in recent years. Cash Money could really help turn that around and give him access to more visibility than he's going to get on any other label.

The Artist: Chamillionaire

Why Birdman Should Sign Him: If we're going to mention Paul Wall as a possible Cash Money, then we have to mention Chamillionaire as well. In fact, we wouldn't be mad at Paul and Cham coming over to Cash Money as a team, like they used to be back in the early 2000s. They're both talented guys who have proven that they know how to produce quality music. But they both seem stuck in a holding pattern that might not end anytime soon. So, why not try and make it work as a duo on Cash Money?

The Artist: Shyne

Why Birdman Should Sign Him: At this point in his career, Shyne needs someone like Cash Money to back him to make himself relevant. We know they sort of tried to put together some type of deal back in 2010 that fell through. But with Shyne's recent appearance on Tha Carter IV, they might want to revisit the idea. Otherwise, we think Shyne might be on the last leg of his career.

The Artist: Mike Posner

Why Birdman Should Sign Him: One thing that Cash Money doesn't have right now is much of an R&B presence. Weird Drake ballads aside (just kidding, Drizzy!), they're primarily a rap label. Now, we know Weezy just inked a 14-year-old to Young Money who could change that, but that is going to take time. Posner could immediately help lend some hooks to the label. And with his previous experience working with Wayne—they shot a video for Posner's song, "Bow Chicka Wow Wow," earlier this year—they've already got a working relationship. Why not expand on that? Both sides would definitely benefit.

The Artist: Beanie Sigel

Why Birdman Should Sign Him: Now this would be an out-of-left-field signing. Beanie and Cash Money? Yeah, we know, it sounds crazy. But, here's the thing: Beanie Sigel can still rap. He just doesn't really have a platform to do it right now. Add in the fact that both Beanie and Cash Money seemingly have a problem with Jay-Z and it turns into a "the-enemy-of-my-enemy-is-my-friend" partnership that could produce a great album. The bottom line is we'd like to see Beanie get one more chance somewhere and Cash Money is really the only place that we could see him landing.

The Artist: Dorrough

Why Birdman Should Sign Him: Remember this guy? Wayne ripped his "Ice Cream Paint Job" on his No Ceilings mixtape. Well, he's got a pretty faithful following down in Texas and in his hometown of Dallas. He also has a DJ Drama mixtape that just dropped. Honestly, though, he could really use some sort of cosign at this point in his career. That's where Cash Money comes in. By signing him, they'd instantly expand his popularity, make him relevant in other parts of the country, and ultimately be able cash in on all of that.

The Artist: Juicy J

Why Birdman Should Sign Him: Juicy is a legend in the South. He's also very underrated because, frankly, his music doesn't get the push that it deserves. We actually wouldn't mind seeing him and DJ Paul come over to Cash Money as Three 6 Mafia. Winning an Oscar a few years ago was a gift and a curse because it gave them a ton of visibility but also made it difficult for them to match their huge career accomplishment. A deal with Cash Money could put them back on the right path and allow them to start from scratch again. And we all win in that scenario.

The Artist: Game

Why Birdman Should Sign Him: Crazy—or just-so-crazy-it-might-work? We'll let you decide. Either way, we wouldn't be surprised in the least if Game ended up on Cash Money. If not now, then at some point in his career. For starter, he's put in a ton of work with Lil Wayne. He also seems to be down with Birdman. And he's almost finished with his Interscope contract, which will make him a free agent soon. All we're saying is that if he's looking to play for a new team, this is one that would have him. So, what do you say, Game? Are you down to play for the Money Team?

They need to get Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar. I feel like if they sign those two and let them operate doing they own thing it would complete them. I feel like they signed too many artist in the beginning of young money era and now they have about 10 acts they dont know what to do with. Wouldnt say kendrick and weeknd would fit in but they make sense cuz they have close ties with drake and right now Cash Money records needs to do watever possible to keep their biggest a.sset happy.

They need to focus on R&B artists at least two and after that they need to stop because at this point they are getting greedy and will not be able to focus on all those artists. Personally, I think someone like Faith Evans would *do well, same way that they did good numbers with Teenie Marie. Another in my opinion would be CJ Hilton, his style would fit with their core audience as far as the drake/Nikki /Wayne fans goes.

soulja boy would be a great signing for ymcmb...

its funny how people always call birdman dumb, but a.ss of right now hes the co owner of the biggest and hottest rap label in rap today. In fact no other label is even close to Cash Money right now.

Your talking of one label that has the three biggest stars in rap right now Drake, Nicki, and Wayne.

The best rapper alive today in Drake.

The most legendary rapper alive today in Lil Wayne.

And a top 3 rapper of all time in Lil Wayne

Also another legendary rapper in Busta Rhymes

The best Rnb artist alive in Drake

And an actor in Lil Bow Wow (he focuses mainly on tv shows and movies now)

An actor also in Drake

Cash Money>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I was following you and then you chose to make idiotic claims... best rnb artist and rapper alive? You do know when you say stupid shiit like that, it makes your whole post invalid.

Also, Paul Wall and Chamillionaire in YM? Hell the fucck no, that would be corny as shiit.

I thought they were gon scoop Lil B from Soulja Boy.

2 Chainz might be a good fit

If they gon sign old dudes for lyrical credibility, they might as well get the rest of em and drop some of the weak links who don't do sh*t.

Youre also talking about a label that is filled with people who will never see any life above mixtapes....Not to mention all the artists they got stuck in Label Development hell they wont ever actually use. Signing more people isnt what they need to do, establishing an audience for people like Chuckee, Tyga, Gudda Gudda on a mainstream retail level is what they need to do. They got acts all over the country that ARE signed that you never hear about........Dont believe me? Look

That would never happen. Both of them built their names off being independent.

Plus Cham just bought out of his contract with Universal after years of creative conflicts.

I don't see that ever happening and going back major again.

All 3 of them are doing mixtapes and getting to much show money for them to even think about letting a label put them on a BS 360 and get a cut.
