People forget Aaron Rodgers has been mediocre his whole life; hs football, community college, college, etc. And now he's the best quarterback in the NFL? Sorry, I'm not buying it. It's nothing he's doing, it's all scheme, coaching, and the players around him.
and what bout Brady, Ben? Brees? these guys weren't the cream of the crop, and comparing college to the nfl is non sense, Rodgers has trained better than most qbs in the nfl and earned everything he's gotten, of course it's part scheme and every qb wouldn't be anything without wr and tight ends and in some cases rbs, people draft players to fit a scheme, that's why you can't compare weapons between these two teams, they use their players differently

I guess everyone was 'average' then. It took 27 years with maybe 1 or 2 coming close to Marino's record, now 3 guys are on pace to break it. You can't honestly say Rodgers is throwing 40 TDs and 5000 yds consistently 10 years ago.

Look at the history of the NFL, what you consider average now used to be elite standards, new doesn't always mean better.
I'm so sick of these excuses, take a look at the best seasons by qbs, they were doing this in the 90s, and 80s there are just different systems of offense, Brady had more attempts when he was younger too, again, stop makin excuses as to why Rodgers is putting up big numbers, Peyton did it in 04, Marino in what 84 and 85, warner in 99, favre 96, ya tittle in 63! all these names have something in common, they all will go down as some of the best or the best qbs in history, all this season tells you is that Rodgers is "special" and the fact that he's not doing it because he's throwing more passes, it's because he's been more efficient than anyone EVER, drop the hate and just respect the show he's putting on, your bitterness is sad

I thought we were discussing this season, because Rodgers wasn't close to the top before it.

I am not taking away anything, just arguing that the NFC, and specifically the chunk of NFC Rodgers is facing, is not some dominant force.
Rodgers wasn't near the top??? since entered the league, even before this year he was 1 or 2 in every qb stat to either brees or rivers

Ben put up decent numbers in college and I say the same thing about Brady but at least he went to Michigan. Aaron Rodgers had to go to community college I'm not buying it, you don't suck at quarterback your whole life and then become one of the best in your late 20's.
That has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard

he faced the saints, falcons and bears, not the best defenses, but good teams, and it's not like he's been great against some of them, he's been great EVERY week and had two tipped ball picks out of three

You listed like 5 seasons in 30 years, I think it is safe to say you proved my point, there is going to be 5 monster QB stats in 2011 alone, that isn't an excuse that is fact that the league has changed.

You just want to believe that Rodgers is the best so bad, but he isn't and never will be.
no, I listed five cuz there's no reason to keep going, and there are going to be MAYBE three

if you really wanna see the top qb seasons look em up, they aren't all recent

Finishim thinks Dan Fouts was better than Joe Montana. :wow:
What's that matter if Rodgers is going be Montana and fouts, meaning winning and putting up monster stats.

They play in a soft division, the softer conference. So many teams in the AFC that would get in that a.ss
Like pittsburgh got in that a.ss last year?

I don't know about 20 yard line, but 2009 week 1, CHI @ GB

EDIT - oh and 2010 Week 12, GB @ ATL despite loss (special teams fault)

I gotta say as a Bears fan I've always paid attention to the Packers games and I remember when Rodgers came in and dude was putting up numbers while getting sacked like 50 times I thought damn, if his o-line only gave this dude at least a second he would be dangerous. I hate seeing the Packers do well but I've always respected Rogers and can't deny the season he is having.

This year Rogers is having a monster season and some people are giving him props while others are trying to find excuses. You need to just give props when they are due and the level that Rodgers is playing at right now is incredible.
