You didn't watch the Orange Bowl last year? I wasn't high on him until he shredded that "defense". You're right about RBs. He's had good ones his whole career at Stanford and a good O-line.

better TE duo? Gronkowski & Hernandez

better RB duo? ehh none that are PROVEN ... well seeing as DeAngelo has gone to sh*t ... Arian Foster + Ben Tate is more productive, if Kendall Hunter got more carries he and Gore would be more productive ... but you're better off with 1 great starting RB and a solid back up I'd rather have Adrian Peterson regardless of whose backing him up than two solid backs

Yeah I saw that, it was a good performance. This game against Oregon is for all the marbles though, if he dominates and their D can do just enough, they got a berth to the NCG and he got the Heisman. If Oregons fast defense gives him problems, then the Heisman is wide open I think and its OK St.'s national championship berth to lose.

Luck's worst games were against ND and Oregon last year. I think he'll play well since its at home this time against Oregon. Oklahoma State will lose a game it could be during the reg season or bowl season. Their defense will be the reason why they'll lose. They're 111th in defense, yea 111th . If they do win out it'll be impressive. Even though I don't like OK State I'd give them massive props for pulling that off w/ that awful defense.

I would still take Cam, but I wanna see him play a yr without all these pieces (rb duo/steve smith/twin te's)

Luck, but he will not be as productive as Cam in his rookie year. What most people fail to mention/realize is that Cam walked into the best possible situation imaginable for a starting rookie qb. Two awesome rb's, a pro bowl wr, two pro bowl te's, and one of, if not the best oline in the NFL. Not many rookie qb's get that talent around them to start. With that type of talent around him, and Chud calling masterful games (he doesn't get near the credit he deserves either), Cam is blessed to be on such a loaded offense. They were so bad last year because Smith quit trying, the ol was banged up and had no continuity, and Williams got hurt. If you have watched every game, he hasn't had to be super man, guys are running wide open, he rarely looks off a safety or checks down, things that will not continue now that teams aren't loading the box to stop the run. I will say that I have been impressed with his accuracy, but I'm still not convinced yet.
Once again...overrating Cam's surrounding talent to discredit him or take away from his hard work...

Ap + Gerhart

Greene + Tomlinson

Foster + Ben Tate

Grant + Starks

Kansas City and the Giants also have some damn good running backs

Once again...overrating Cam's surrounding talent to discredit the guy. Yet when Aaron Rodgers, Manning, Joe Montana, Drew Brees, or most other successful Qbs are surrounded with solid talent no one takes anything away from them

When Brett Favre had a great year in Minnesota people credited him...not AP or Sidney Rice. He got a large load of the credit..

As for tight ends...the Chargers, Eagles, Packers, Colts, and Saints have better tight ends

None of these allstar players you guys are claiming are highly desired by other teams. If they were...they wouldn't have signed with a Panthers team that last year had plenty of holes and came into the season with a Quarterback no one thought could play.

Steve Smith is also not that highly rated...he's definitely no Mike Wallace, Dez Bryant, Dwayne Bowe, Vincent Jackson, Greg Jennings, Roddy White, Andre Johnson, Santonio Holmes, or Desean Jackson. Especially at this age...

It is digusting that now that Cam is doing well...people are finding other ways to take credit away from him. Put an average Qb behind them and they don't do that well. Which means what? Well..it means you'd need a good QB to be behind there right? So what does that make Cam?

Not really. He's averaging 4.8 ypc. He just haven't been getting enough carries this season.
You should have seen the average BEFORE Cam opened that offense up. He was not that good before even before Clausen took over...

Dude is calling his own plays in college, that speaks enormous volume on how he sees a defense. Cam ain't that guy. Call it what you will, he never had to be that guy all throughout his career so far. I would take Shockey on my team in a nano second. Olsen not a top 10 TE??? I never said Cam would be a bust, didn't think anything about him really. Only qb I said would be a bust was Mallet. I ain't a hater, I just get sick of people that get all wet talking about some rookie qb that hasn't done that much at all. Busted coverages led to a lot of his yardage.
Something tells me you would not say this about Luck in the EXACT same situation....

Olsen is definitely top 10

1. Antonio Gates
2. Jermichael Finley
3. Jimmy Graham
4. Ron Gronkowski
5. Heath Miller
6. Dallas Clark
7. Jason Witten
8. Dustin Keller
9. Brent Celek
10. Tony Gonzalez

Teams would take any of these tight ends over Olsen...and I didn't even mention Todd Heap, Fred Davis, Vernon Davis, or Aaron Hernandez

for all the folks picking Luck, please project what you think his first 8 games will look like...will he have some 400 yard games or be second in the league in passing yards?...what will be his record after 8 games? I think Luck is a very good qb, but I don't see how anyone can project a rookie qb playing better than Cam at the moment.

Go to the Dalton thread. Being 5-2 makes your QB better apparently.

Steve Young, Aaron Rodgers
Cam is currently on pace for 638 yards in his rookie season.

Young never topped 550 yards (which means he never topped 638).

In his Superbowl years:
1988 - Had 184 Rushing Yards
1989 - Had 126 Rushing Yards
1994 - Had 293 Rushing Yards

Aaron Rodgers Superbowl years:
2010 - 356 Rushing Yards

I believe I have heard Panthers fans call Newton their "primary back" when they get into the redzone. I don't know if that's because they don't trust their RBs or if Newton is just better than their RBs but that supports my theory he's a rushing QB.

Newton currently has 7 rushing TDs. On pace for 14. Aaron Rodgers has never topped 5 rushing TDs. Young never passed 7.

Still don't see how people can say he isn't a rushing QB. I'm wondering how long until he nears 1,000 rushing yards in a season (and no that's not too crazy. Vick broke 1,000 and hit 900 ).

He's the better athlete, player? We'll see next year if Luck comes out. I'm not debating over players that aren't in the NFL yet.

Are you serious? He has averaged over 5 ypc three times in his career. He had a 1500 yard season in 2008.
I mostly meant last season. Forgot Clausen started early after Matt Moore got injured

Point is he's an okay RB. He's not exactly an Rb that can make something happen without help on offense. If Cam wasn't as good as he is...and capable of moving around and throwing down the field as he is...the running game would be non-existent

That would be like saying Chris Johnson is helping the Titans offense. No one is afraid of him right now. Running backs fall off

Teams don't gameplan being afraid of all this "great talent" Cam is supposedly surrounded by. They're worried about Cam Newton 1st, foremost, and lastly

Without Cam that is an AVERAGE team...if not less
