Papelbon back in Boston, really?
Why not? They both need each other. None of those free agent closers could handle Boston and the AL East.

Heath Bell could, but I think the Padres have to smarten up and sign him.

Heath Bell K/9 been dropping for the last 2 or 3 years now. He'd get eaten alive in Boston. No big NL West parks to dance out of trouble. I know one closer thats upset as hell that he's not a FA right now.

I just like that he's a lefty and would settle in nicely behind CC and Nova. Darvish I don't really want because of the unknown factor.
After Igawa and Fat Toad (Irabu) I don't want any more Japanese pitchers on this roster and that includes Kuroda.

So no on Yu Darvish.
I like CJ, but not in the postseason and not at AJ Burnett numbers. He isn't worth 16 million a year.

Focus on re-signing CC. The pitching didn't let us down this post-season, the HITTING did.

CC, Nova, Burnett, Hughes and who cares (a lefty or one of the young guns). Sign a scrap heap player like Freddy Garcia for insurance if the young guns still aren't ready.

Lastly, the Tigers announced they have exercised their $9 million option on RHP Jose Valverde for 2012.
That is not a good look.

Dont get me wrong I know he saved 40 plus games BUT

He walks way to many guys
he gives up way to many hits.

Not my money and not my team but still...

Early Predictions

Albert Pujols - Cardinals
Prince Fielder - Nationals
Jose Reyes - Marlins
Jimmy Rollins- Phillies
CC Sabathia - Yankees
Aramis Ramirez - Angels
CJ Wilson - Yankees
David Ortiz - Blue Jays
Jon Papelbon - Red Sox
Ryan Madson - Phillies
Yu Darvish - Rangers
Carlos Beltran - Red Sox
K-Rod - Marlins
Jonathan Broxton - Blue Jays
Mark Buerhle - White Sox
Heath Bell - Orioles
Roy Oswalt - Phillies
Grady Sizemore - Mariners
Brad Lidge - Padres
I think if Oswalt doesn't re-sign with PHI, he's going to STL.

Reyes to FLA? I don't know man. They really don't like paying folks. And are they going to tell him to play a position he hasn't played in 7 years? I know it's "just" 2nd base, but still. Can't see Prince taking his Sully from Monster's INC lookin' a.ss to the Nats. I got him in Seattle, SF, TEX (upset pick) or back in MIL (bigger upset). Papelbon is DONE in Boston. I know Yankee fans would if he went back there.

And Pujols is one hell of a defensive player. Teixeira is in the mold of Keith Hernandez on defense.

Reyes would play SS, Hanley would move to 3rd.

Prince is going to go where the most money is, and that's either the Nats or Orioles.

Only place I see Paps is going is the Phillies and on the flip side Madson would go to Boston.
Hate him or not, Paps is still a dominant closer and had a great year last year.

I would like to Hanley at 2nd so they could try and replicated a Jeter Cano thing there in Miami.

Options on both Cano and Swisher have been picked up. Sabathia is expected to opt out, Soriano will not.

I'd love to see Boone Logan non tendered. As for joba, he needs to prove that he can be a dependable reliever or else he will have to get non tendered or dfa'd next year due to te fact that his value is at an all time low.

If the Rangers can get Darvish and Fielder I'll be happy..
Pujols went out of our price range, plus with the money we'd have to drop for the rights to talk to Darvish

and we'll be a strike away again in 2012

The Yankees have exercised their 2012 club options on second baseman Robinson Cano and outfielder Nick Swisher, the team announced. Cano's option is for $14MM and Swisher's is for $10.25MM.

Cano, who turned 29 a week ago, has established himself as an elite offensive second baseman, slugging no fewer than 25 homers in each of the past three seasons to go along with his .308/.347/.496 career line. Fangraphs' UZR metric has rated Cano slightly below-average defensively in recent seasons, but his $14MM 2012 salary will still be a bargain relative to his overall production, a fact that may (or may not) have inspired his agent, Scott Boras, to angle for a new contract recently.

Swisher, 31 next month, shrugged off a sluggish start this season to hit 23 homers and post a .260/.374/.449 line, in keeping with his .254/.360/.466 career figures. He didn't fare well during the Yankees' postseason run, leading some to wonder whether the Yankees would decline his option and perhaps pursue someone like Carlos Beltran, but that was quashed yesterday.

The Yankees hold another club option on Cano for 2013 at $15MM, while Swisher is entering the final year of a five-year deal he signed with the Athletics back in May 2007.
