Sales is always HIGHLY looked over. Just make sure you go in a stable setting ie (medical).
One thing about Sales is you always have a lot of potential to make money, but usually it has a time limit on it. You can't be in your upper 40s selling (unless you age really well).
But then again you could stay in sales get the experience then become a manager.
After general sales there are places to go: sales management, director of sales, VP of sales, even sales consultation.
That's the good thing about sales, at the "ground level" you can make a ton of money depending on how hard you work, and then you can move up from there and make even more money in a more secure setting. Companies take care of sales people who move into their management positions.
The bad thing is, no one will admit it, but not everyone has the personality to be in sales. You can teach people theories about selling, but part of the job is about the way you handle yourself, which can't really be tought.
