The only thing that makes me watch this show is the premise. The writing is terrible. The acting is terrible.

The CGI is pretty good though.

Movies and TV shows should never be criticised for not sticking to the source material, IMHO. They're totally different mediums to the source material, and, IMHO, should be judged on its own merits in the medium they're currently in.

How does it make a film worse if it doesn't stick completely to the source material? A film is not a book; they're totally different things. A film should be judged as a film; a TV show should be judged as a TV show; a book should be judged as a book.

Quite simple, really.

last episode was terrible. The season premiere was the best episode so far in the series other than the pilot. I still never seen Game of Thrones. I'll watch it when the series is over in 2013.

And lol @ people saying this show is terrible. If this is terrible, then wtf do you call "Falling Skies"?. Now that show is terrible.

Due to popular demand: The Walking Dead Smart-O-Meter

Rick: 2.3/10 – “I NEED TO LEAVE MY DYING SON!!!”
Lori: 4.7/10 – The only smart thing she did was realizing that Rick abandoning Carl was a bad idea.
Shane: 6.5/10 – Good job talking Rick down I guess?
Otis: 5.4/10 – Hunting deer with a gun while zombies are out is dumb no matter how many children you hit. But his overall niceness and willing to risk his life sort of balanced it out.
Hershel: 9.3/10 –Asking if Carl was bit first, and then calmly taking control of the situation: Best Newcomer of the Week.
Daryl: 9.8/10 – Not stopping for Rick is a pretty good idea. Not stopping in general is a good idea. Not trusting random girl is also a good, if unnecessary, idea. MVP of the week.
Andrea: 3.4/10 – Haha you were almost dead
Carol: 1.2/10 – blah blah daughter blah
T-Dog: 0.4/10 – Sure, don’t tell people about your injuries and then try to steal
the RV.
Dale: 6.8/10 – Was a good voice of reason, but did nothing special.
Maggie: 7.9/10 – Cool zombie takedown
Glenn: 10/10 – He didn’t say anything this episode, so I can only a.ssume he has mentally transcended beyond this mortal plane.
Carl: Is Comatose

If HBO, SHO or Cinemax could turn Day by Day Armageddon into a series, it would sh*t all over this. And I read the Walking Dead comics and they are far superior to the show.

I appreciate the Walking Dead for breaking new ground, but the source material is so fu*king epic, I just still can't understand why anyone would want to deviate.

It's similar to the feeling I get watching an X-Men movie and the disappointment I have knowing the comics and 90's TV show had a wealth of good material that would of made great films.

But there are 11 episodes left, so it can get better
Son, ALL OF THIS SHIIT HAPPENS IN THE COMIC! If you truly read the comic, you know whats going to happen during the farm arc. And the comic doesn't become epic until the obvious villain is introduced and the other 2 prominent characters are brought in as well.

Are you sure you read the comic?

Kirkman said the show is different (and going in a different direction) from the comic. I mean he's the creator so I think I'd trust him.

The comics are gritty and all about the human interaction and Carl's development past a mere child and Rick into the man who will do anything to save his family. Why would anyone want to deviate from that?

Reading and watching Rick change completely is what makes the books so amazing. And the deprivity that mankind reaches and the new lows we all sink to is what really drives the story. Zombies have been done and will continue to be represented in various media. But what made the Walking Dead so unique is its gritty tales of human interaction. And we are not being treated to that.

I haven't read the comic but what I gather is you don't like the route the show is going? I haven't been reading the thread I just came to say what kirkman said. Oh and that the last episode was boring.

There's only one major element missing from what you said. And that involves Carl. It's pretty obvious why they omitted that major turning point from the comic. There's no way they would allow that to happen on television even if its Cable.

For the most part, the TV show is following the comic aside from the CDC and Tyrese. The CDC was just added to close out that mini first season and Tyrese will be around sooner or later.

But the whole "gritty" stuff the comic incorporates doesn't come until later on. I seriously have no idea what you're complaining about.

Why would the series be over in 2013? That'd only be book 3. There are 5 books with more still to be written.

I don't think anybody in this thread is questioning that.
