stupid idea...

these players could make more money playing overseas. n*ggas is getting offered $10 million for one season and it ain't even half the amount of games the NBA has. that's a steal

n*ggas rly thought the players would cave in
You should do some research. In this history of sports whenever there's a lockout like this the players always cave. In NHL, NBA, NFL, MLB... Owners always get what they want.

Nothing will change here. When the guys making $200k-$3M a year start missing checks you will see players turning on each other.

There are more guy making less then $ then all those superstars. 30 NBA rookies make $0 right now. About 30-40 Free Agents make $0 right now. They can go overseas all they want but they aren't making anything close to what they make in the NBA..

Amare idea is a nice fantasy but unless backed by Billions from outside parties it won't happen.

not every arena in fact most arenas arent owned primarily by the teams they are leased so unless theres some no compete clause then you could definitely have a 10 team league

i see europe opening the flood gates like soccer though especially if you can get them for a long term deal

read the malcolm gladwell piece on the nets "losing" money

ratner used the nets to build the damn apartment complex so it would be easier for him to get eminent domain

i dont know about other teams but using the nets as an example is disingenuous

and the nets had one of the worst tv deals in sports until the renegotiated this year the reason the deal was so bad was because at the time the yankees basically owned the nets while trying to build the stadium in newark

thats mismanagement not the players fault

none of the apt complex will be built. He has no funding for it & he can't get bonds.

They had a bad deal because the team sucked and had no potential until the russian bought it.

The point is they lose 60 million in jersey and their are similar situations with other teams in the nba.

Do you think the bobcats and hornets are breaking a profit? Why doesn't anybody wanna buy the hornets?

no they couldnt.every overseas league has restrictions on amount of players and it is nowhere near tha same money.if they gonna take overseas money they could just take tha 50/50 split and make more here

Time out

So n*ggas really think that if Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Melo and any other NBA superstar walked into a bank together...they wouldn't be able to come out of that bank with a loan that would allow them to start their own league? Have Magic Johnson lead all negotiations for the deal with the bank and I guarantee they would be able to do it.

n*ggas got cake nowadays and the money they borrow from the bank would be paid back in 2 years or less.

I side with the owers on the lockout but this is the best idea the players have had.

On a side note..I hope Jay Z gets caught talking to an NBA player in a club and the Nets lose their draft pick next year. Sucka a.ss n*gga......

imagine they couldn't start their own league. Could do some ill sh*t with only like 8-12 teams. Base it out of like 4 spots, LA, New York, Chicago and Boston. 3 or 4 nights a week. One week in LA, New York etc. ESPN shows bowling and streetball you think they wouldn't pick this up? You could have a crazy fantasy draft w/ like Lebron, Wade, Melo, Kobe, Durant, STAT etc picking players. It'd be a crazy league, who wouldn't watch that? Teams could even have house shows with less popular players like a d-league so everyone eats. It wouldn't cost much to rent out the places, they'd make all that $$ back through ESPN and such. Get Nike to sponsor the uniforms. You can get OG players and celebrities to coach the teams.

Also I know Cablevision owns MSG and they could probably get a TV/Arena deal through them.
