I've been hearing that there’s no money to keep our senior centers open, pay our teachers, keep college affordable or help struggling homeowners.

But I am sure this $5 would help out. These banks and Wall Street and even our own government continue to lie and say there is no money to pay for vital services or to invest in creating jobs.

But we all know where the money is. It’s time for big banks, big corporations & the wealthy to pay their fair share. We all know it’s not really a “revenue” problem. It’s an inequality problem.

I work for Wells Fargo and they are charging the same fee starting in November. Its only going to be in a select few areas though(Georgia,Nevada)...it will be a $3 monthly service fee. The sh*t is absolutely asinine!

That's why people need to move their money. Their are actually banks taking advantage of this situation. BofA's competition is trying to swoop up some of the people who leave them

But in the end all these banks win if we succumb to this pressure or keep saying "Well $3-5 isn't that much "

Me and bank of America been having beef since, I found out they are not an American owned bank, they are the largest bank here in America, which is why they do whatever the fu*k they want, and people just go along with it, I for one will not stand for this, how much money do they really need?

ING for my checking and savings. And Capitol One no interests for 12 months for all my purchases. I direct deposit my checks and currently don't get charged any fees with ING. I have access to any ATM at a Rite Aid, Seven-11 or if you have a smart phone you can access their app and find out the nearest, eligible ATM that's not a Rite Aid or 7-11 ATM.

In the event ING started charging me any fees I would do the following. Make all my purchases through my credit card at Capitol One and link my ING checking to that credit card in order to ensure it constantly has money in it. And with a $5K limit I don't see myself ever maxing it out. And since ING prides itself as being an online only account, they might charge to have a debit cardand use it, but I doubt they would ever make me pay for bill pay or linking accounts online. And after the 12 month interest free period is over, then I would open another credit card and transfer balances or just pay off the card using my checking/savings.

We have to be smarter and more clever than these banks. There are ways around their bullsh*t. I've been doing it for the past 18 months and haven't had to pay anyone to use MY own money. Or even someone elses credit!

it is an industry wide thing. All banks major and local will eventually start charging for debit cards if they want to stay in business. As far as bank of america the charge is only if u use your debit card for purchases. Just pay cash and u r good... Or make enough money, keep high balances and upgrade your acct and all fees are waived :)

How is this an indictment on capitalism? Capitalism allows competing companies to benefit from another company's mistakes. If Bank of America customers really have a problem with this, they'll take their money to another bank or a credit union that doesn't charge for debit transactions. All they have to do is take action and not just bi*ch online.

If enough people tell BoA to fu*k off, they'll smarten up and cut this bullsh*t out. No one is forcing anyone to stay with BoA. They're free to look elsewhere for a better option. That's capitalism.
These cats are all in bed with each other; hence
"Several banks are nevertheless moving ahead with debit card fees.

SunTrust, a regional bank based in Atlanta, began charging a $5 debit card fee on its basic checking accounts this summer. Regions Financial, which is based in Birmingham, Ala., plans to start charging a $4 fee next month.
Chase and Wells Fargo are also testing $3 monthly debit card fees in select markets."
Lets be real, capitalism is about gaining capital; noting more or less. Do you know how much of a hassle it is to switch all of your banking information over $5 surcharge for a debit transaction? Most people will except the fee and keep it pushing which is what BofA expects. Don't be fooled into thinking corporations have the consumers best interests in mind. They will nickle and dime the sh*t out of you and collect billions.

USAA abd ING are the two best checking accounts with NO fees to use your money

And if there isn't a branch location nearby, you can deposit your checks at the UPS store or thru your Smart Phone!!! ING unfortunately doesn't have anywhere that you can deposit an actual check. So it's strictly online.

Does ING give you a check/debit card or just an ATM card?

It is a debit/check card that can also be used as a credit card. And instead of an over draft fee they allow you to use your check/debit card like a credit card and they extend a line of credit in case you go over your account balance.

It's like a credit card. So you have time to pay off your balance before the interest rates kick in. So as long as you pay back what you borrowed in time, you won't incur any charges.

My girl just switched from Wells Fargo to USAA because of the fees they kept hitting her with. And the cool thing about USAA is that you can deposit checks via your smart phone or any UPS Store. Plus, like ING, there is no minimum amount to have in your account and no fees to open your account or have a debit/atm card attached to it. The only fee, which is completely optional, is for overdraft protection.

Both ING & USAA are much better alternatives to the bigger banks.
