at the "slow" argument. Are you kiddin' me? Y'all are just making yourself fall into the category of modern american audience stereotype of not being able to pick up subtle or nuances so its "boring". Ain't nothing boring about it. The first forty minutes >>>>>>>>>>>>>

I can see so many valid arguments to tear this film a part but y'all just picking the wrong ones.

It's the best movie of the year so far, to me, and I will be VERY pleasantly surprised if I see something that usurps this.

Movie is over hyped to me, was really excited to see it after all i'd heard but i left the theatre feeling ambivalent, and after thinking about it more I've come to the conclusion i just didn't like it even though i wanted to.

While i did enjoy the cinematography for the most part, and thought gosling was good, I didn't understand the music selection at all, extremely incongruous with the rest of the movie to me and seemed an obvious attempt to give the film a more unique feel...

Also felt the lack of dialogue actually hurt the movie more than helped it as well, I can see they were going for realism the awkward silent scenes, but to me they failed and i couldn't tell if it was supposed to be comical or not, and half the theatre laughed while the rest didn't, so i don't think i was alone in feeling this way.

And your theater was wack.

explain to me why the music fit with the rest of the movie then, don't just say YES IT DOES, outside of the pink font and 80s synth pop there was nothing else 80s about it as far as i could see

I'm not saying it was a bad movie, and i had no issues with pacing or anything, i just think its being over glorified for being "artsy"

The opening song. Its a woman seeing something special in a psychopath. Right off the back, giving a hint of his personality and before he meets this young lady. I think we can see make correlations there.

I don't think i have to explain the Hero song.

Under Your Spell - I don't eat, I don't sleep, I do nothing but think about you. Clearly the zoom in to Irene with doleful look when her husband is back in the household. The music here blends in the feeling what shes going through after she just meant a guy shes really into.

Plus the movie was going for 80's theme!

There's been other great films this year including Drive. All are not necessarily mainstream films either.

I could see the artsy or borrowing.

Still doesn't chance the fact its smooth, cool, fun, gorgeous looking, addicting soundtrack that goes perfectly hand to hand with the film.

This year blows, besides a lot of fun movies (Drive, Hanna, Planet of the Apes, Attack the Block, even Super 8).

that's funny, i dismissed that movie based on the trailers. It looked like one of those movies that relies heavily on eye candy and no story... about to watch it though.
