That doesn't mean sh*t kid. Garrard's QB rating is always decent and middle of the pack because he's a game manager who never takes chances. So he throws less picks. Although he still threw 15 Ints.

What matters is how much defenses respect or are scared of him passing... which is they don't/aren't. Teams always stack the box against Jacksonville because Garrard poses no threat. The only threat is MJD. He rarely goes deep. When he does, he usually misses. He's had like 3 plays in 4 years starting where he actually hit a long pass. He's an intermediate/short pass guy. Basically, he's a West Coast Offense QB.

Garrard was more of a threat with his legs than his arm and that's a known fact around the league. Last years QB rating was an anomaly because the guy racked up big time numbers in garbage/catch up time when Jax got blown out in it's early losses. Not to mention his hail mary game winner which should of been an INT LOL. Teams played prevent and he racked up yards.

Dude was average. Luke McCown is average too. But a better passing threat. And he doesn't cost 8-9 million dollars a year. Garrard wasn't worth the money in the long run.

I'm surprised he wasn't cut sooner actually. And according to Jay Glazer, the players expected this move sooner as well. Gerald Alexander who was with the team last year in 2010 early on said Luke McCown continually out played Garrard in camp, preseason and practices.

Jags players saw this coming.

From Jay Glazer - "The interesting thing was that the players in the Jaguars locker room, they're not that shocked. The guys I talked to in there said that they thought this was an inevitable move. At one point it was going to happen this year, that the move was going to be made.Luke McCown, they said, has played extremely well."

Also from Mark Long of AP
When asked whether #Jaguars had lost confidence in Garrard, one player told me "I don't think there was confidence to be lost." Ouch

LOL damn homey got ethered.

JAGs fan

Im glad this finally happened:party2: but ima bit surprised @ the timing

DG was average, like ive been posting on here he has roller coaster seasons (Great Plays Horrible Plays, Tds 1 game INTs the next)

Now it makes sense. They waited to cut him so teams like the Colts, a division rival, couldn't sign him sooner and bring him up to speed with their offense.

*We've been n the rebuilding stages so I wont be disappointed if we dont make the playoffs

but since we releasing Garrard. . . . . .

Umm Jags had no blackouts last season....

Im not a Jags fan by any means but I live in Jacksonville about 10 minutes away from the stadium so I always hear about how the Jags are doing and what not.

After Garrard was dropped today mostly everyone at my work was happy with the move.

Garrard was probably respected more by the media then he was in Jax.

This move doesn't surprise me. He hasn't played well and Luke actully outplayed him last year, but he got hurt and was placed on IR. He'll land another job pretty quickly imo, he's not a bad QB. We just didn't provide him with enough weapons and he also took a lot of sacks holdng onto the ball too long as well as throwing some terrible picks.

There are worse QBs in the NFL than Garrard he will get a gig soon. McCown is a career backup for a reason this just sets the table for Gabbert. McCown wont have long to impress the staff he's just a stop gap for a little while Gabbert is the future.
