Doing a juice diet can be unhealthy. You have to know what you are doing. 50 cent went on a controlled juice diet to get to this.

He had a nutritionist monitoring the correct nutrients, vitamins, protein, crabs, fat etc for him to intake so his body didn't go into shock.

You've lost weight because your body can easily absorb liquid faster then solids. It doesn't need to work to disguise the liquid. When you go back to solid food your body will take longer to adjust and you'll probably put weight back on.

You feel great because you're mainly putting sugar in your body so what you're experiencing is a sugar rush. When you stop you will crave sugar again. I'll say you've lost water weight then actual fat.

Also you're not getting any fibre in.

Seriously when is that from? Why did 50 do that and g'damn he looks like hell.

I've been doing a juice detox and I'm on the 17th day and have already lost 28 pounds.

I'm getting a little worried. I've heard of people losing 40 in a month, but this seems crazy.

I'm juicing kale, cucumber, green apples, celery, parsley, ginger root and lemon and I'm just shedding weight. Anybody else done this kind of detox before?

I was gonna go 30 days, but I think I might start incorporating salad and nuts back into my diet this weekend.
I'm actually interested in trying this. Can you share the details of your diet?

:agreement6: great documentary totally changed my view on fruits and veggies. I could never eat that much individually but by using a juicer it makes sh*t ten times easier and helps my diet.

Have you wondered, “Will I get enough protein during my Reboot?” Have friends, family, trainers, and others shared their concerns with you, “But you won’t be getting enough protein!!!” Feeling confused or worried? Think this whole protein issue is being blown out of proportion?
Let’s set the record straight.
What is protein?
Protein is an important nutrient, made up of individual “building blocks,” known as amino acids. There are 9 essential amino acids, meaning that we must get these nutrients from food, our bodies can not construct them out of other nutrients in our diet. Animal sources of protein contain all 9 of these essential amino acids and are called “complete” proteins. Many vegetables have some but not all 9 amino acids and are called, “incomplete” proteins. There are, however, other plant-based foods that are complete proteins.
The scientific belief used to be that one must combine incomplete proteins and eat them at the same moment in time to create a complete protein – like beans and rice. Science has debunked this rigid notion, making vegetarian meal planning much simpler. The goal is to consume a wide variety of plants day to day to naturally match up incomplete proteins over the course of a few days. This will provide all the necessary building blocks in a timely fashion for the body to work with.
Why is protein important?
Proteins play many important roles to keep us well.
Here are a few examples:
• Hunger and fullness regulation
• Maintaining and building muscle mass
• Fluid balance
• Regulating blood sugar
• Helping reduce reflux
They are also the building blocks for creating:
• Immune factors
• Enzymes
• Hormones
• Skin, hair, nails and other connective tissues
• Transports for absorbing and distributing other nutrients
How much protein do I need to eat?
The amount of protein needed to maintain health is different for everyone and even for the same person at different times. There is also a range of protein that is best not an absolute number. In our meat ‘n potatoes focused society the average American consumes far more protein than is required for health. Yet, inadequate protein intake is risky and can lead to many complications including severe malnutrition (think of the swollen bellies in starving children) or an increased likelihood for catching a virus. You may find many methods for calculating protein needs online or in books but to know your numbers it is best to ask a qualified professional.
Which plant-based foods have the most protein?
Examples of plant based complete proteins include amaranth, buckwheat, chia seeds, hempseed, quinoa, soybeans, spirulina. Examples of high protein Reboot-friendly plants include kale and other dark green leafys, broccoli, celery, corn, and avocado.
How much protein can I expect to eat or drink during my Reboot? We have listed the protein content for all of our juice and meal recipes found at to inform you of what you are getting. Clinically speaking, it is highly unlikely a healthy person will develop a protein deficiency in the time frame of the posted Reboot programs (5-15 days).
• Green juices in particular are rather rich in protein – 10 grams per serving (16-20 glass). To put it in perspective, 1 ounce of meat, fish or poultry, 1 egg, 1 cup milk each have 6-8 grams of protein.
• One day of juices could result in anywhere from 40-60+ grams of protein – which is sufficient for many folks over a short period of time and actually 100% adequate for others.
• The amount of vegetables eaten during the Reboot helps bump up the amount of protein an individual will consume in a day during their program.
• Walking and doing light weights can help to preserve muscle mass during a Reboot.
• We do not recommend protein powders during a Reboot, but it’s a personal preference. Some Rebooters have chosen to mix chia seeds into their juice. Others have decided they feel best adding in some raw, organic nuts or a vegan/plant-based protein powder like spirulina. The Reboot is meant to be deeply personal and we support everyone’s choices when it comes to creating what works best.
Hopefully the P word is no longer taboo and we have de-mystified the basics about this macronutrient during your Reboot. We would love to hear your thoughts on this hot topic!

Protein is the most overrated and misconception in western diet. People be taking overloads of protein when they don't even know how much grams their body can digest within a certain time frame; or weather they truly need that much for what they're trying attain in their regimen.

Props on your weight loss. I don't care what diets people do to lose weight as long as they're not resorting to pills and surgery. When you have to actually make an effort to lose weight then you learn life lessons that will forever keep the weight off you in the future.

I can agree, your stomach is gonna hurt once you start eating solids again. I eat low-carb 24/7. I have 1 cheat meal (not day) once a week. It might be some chicken nuggets, might be some Mexican food or some cake and later on my fu*king stomach is k!lling me because it's not used to getting 60-100+ carbs at a time.

I have a question about your juice fasting, is that sh*t expensive? I saw that juice fasting movie everyone is talking about and the dude said for him it was like $400+ a month to do the juice fasting sh*t. It was like nearly $30 a day in veggies and fruits too. Does it cost you nearly that? Or do you use alot of water too?

And as far as the losing weight in a short amount of time- don't dwell on it too much because the thing is, you aren't starving yourself. You feel full due to all the fiber from the veggies & fruits, and of course it being juice fills your stomach up faster. Our bodies is made up of so much water that your really cleansing your body of alot of fluids when all you drink is fluids, that's why it's called a juice detox. So yeah, you're losing weight and while some of its fat, some of it is also water too. Don't be scared by losing 28 pounds in 17 days, this would be different if you were starving your body and not eating at all, then you would look like a malnutritioned crackhead.

Keep it up until you reach your goal weight. Be aware that you're gonna gain weight fairly easy for a little bit until your body is used to taking in whole foods. And don't take this for granted, 28 pounds is 28 pounds. I saw a bi*ch on Youtube who lost 45 pounds in a short amount of time from juice fasting, and once she switched to whole foods again she gained it all back in like 6 months because she didn't have discipline and she took the juice fasting sh*t for granted.

You're the perfect example of when this type of diet should be used. When you are injured and can't really work out but you want to lose weight. You should try and count how many calories you eat daily while juicing. I bet it's under 2000 depending on how much fruits you use. That what makes it work so well. You could eat bowls and bowls of lettuce/leafy greens all day and it would only be like 1000 calories.

Congrats on the weight loss.

I feel you. I think I'm gonna do just juice for 22 more days, then start having salad once a day for dinner and slowly build back up...

Nope, no solid foods. I only sh*t every few days, and it's surprisingly solid. Very clean, too. I don't even need to wipe.

I think he was buying all organic, which I'm not really doing. I get the apples and carrots from my own garden. Kale is the only thing that gets expensive. I bet I'll spend about $300 this month though.

Thanks, man. According to this Livestrong app on my iPhone, I'm consuming about 1,600 calories a day.
