the problem with this country was that we spent about $72 million a day (total cost now over $1 trillion) on a war in Iraq which was unnecessary. had a war in afghanistan we also had to pay for trying to f!ght the "taliban" while their leader was smoking joints in Pakistan the entire time while surfing the net. I don't think people realize how serious this issue is. the market will be horrible, 401k's will decrease 20-30%, and loans/interest rates will sky rocket. so just say you have a credit card without a fixed interest rate and it's at 12% now and you have debt. you are fu*ked. it could increase to 20% interest or even higher. people need to educate themselves. fast.

I agree with you on the cash for gold sh*t. The government is buying up all the gold they can to protect themselves when the dollar crashes and wont be worth sh*t. The end of US domination is here and civil war will prevail if they can't raise the debt ceiling. Majority of Americans don't know what it's like to be in a real recession like what you guys had back in the day. This can't be good at all.....
A civil war wont happen..

a revolution will happen...

but we are going to be fu*ked cause its going to be the american people against the american army...laws need to be passed for the second amendment to make it a fair f!ght/bring the second amendment back for what its supposed to be (RON PAUL INTRODUCING THAT TO RESTORE IT)

I think some of the American army would defect or just quit to go protect their own loved ones. And I think when it comes down to it, many would end up f!ghting on the side of the people as opposed to the government. But there is always Blackwater or whatever its called nowadays.

How about we just tax the sh*t out of the rich. We don't need to raise the debt ceiling, we just need to tax the richest 1% at the same rate the middle and lower class are paying.
The top 1% of income tax earners pay one-third of all the income taxes, with the top 50% paying 96%.

Even if we take EVERYTHING from the rich, that doesn't even get a whole year's worth of federal spending. But after that year, when EVERYTHING has been taken, where will income come from? (the guy in the video is a pompous d!ck but the data is important):

Republicans being ignorant like always trying to protect the wealthy thus going to cause millions of old people to not get their social security checks.
Most Republicans are ignorant. Most Democrats are ignorant. The only way interest on the debt doesn't get paid for and social security checks don't get sent is if the government CHOOSES not to pay them. The federal government brings in plenty of money to pay those things. The problem is none (or almost none) of them want to really buckle down and cut spending.

Actually you're, you should try figuring out what is going on for a change. It will help broaden your knowledge.

If you realized that republicans want to cut the money away from Education and Medi-care while protecting the rich people then you would know what's going on.

When Warren Buffet goes on television and flat says its pretty bad when my low waged secretary gets taxed a higher percentage than me then you would know whats going on.

Learn the USA's politics before commenting again, thank you.
Would you say the quality of education in America has gone up or down over the last decade or so? Now, in correlation to that, do you think federal spending on education has gone up or down in that same time frame? The federal government has made a mockery of public education and it IS time to let the states and local people run their own educational systems. In addition to that, have you ever wondered why tuition just seems to keep going up and up and up? Could it be because the Feds hand out student loans to everyone with a pencil? All of that demand bids prices up through the roof. That's economics 101. The same can be said for Medicare.

Also, most of the people in Washington that are advocating a change in Medicare aren't suggesting it happen over night. A gradual change in government policy would wean people off of government dependency. Pair that with a reduction in spending, say overseas where we spend nearly a trillion annually and NO ONE that absolutely needs Medicare for survival is left in the cold. Then eventually, the government would be able to get the fu*k out of the way completely and stop ruining healthcare by driving down quality and causing prices to skyrocket.

Lastly, if Warren Buffet and other rich people like Steven King are so upset about the little amount they're taxed, I'm sure the Treasury wouldn't have problem with them heading on over to their website and making a sizable donation. Look, I agree, the tax system is flawed and a massive overhaul is needed. But taxing the hell out of the rich whether the public has decided they deserve their wealth or not isn't going to solve anything.

Obama is willing to make massive cuts in spending and yet republicans wont budge at all

All because the rich fu*ks dont want to get taxed slightly more

Don't give me a freaking excuse that they don't deserve to be taxed. They will still be more than well off than 80% of americans. They will still own their jets, they will still own thier mercedes and they will still own their 10 acre houses.

Greedy fu*ks

The Republicans would rather let the country crash and try to blame the whole thing on obama just so they can get a republican into the white house than try to better the country

So fu*king stupid

Its time we change the political system in America because it is truly getting to levels of bullsh*t

Our model needs a fix or something cus this aint working
You're right. We do need a change in our political system. Let's throw out the two party system all together. BOTH parties have contributed to this mess. But it's a shame people like you watch MSNBC all night while that c*nt Rachel Maddow tells you it's all the Republicans fault. Then at the same time other people watch Fox all night while fu*king chumps like Sean Hannity tell them it's all the Democrats fault. It's a game they perpetuate to keep people stupid. You ever wonder why every election cycle and new wave of idiots is elected and nothing changes?

Secondly, I know in society today it's cool to hate every rich person who's ever existed but they don't deserve to have their money stolen from them to finance unconstitutional government spending any more than poor people do. Whether you think they deserve the money they have, or how good they'll still have it if we take more, it doesn't matter. It's still THEIR money. The solution in Washington needs to shift from, "Well, who do we tax?" to, "Where can we legitimately cut spending?".

Lastly, please provide for me evidence of all these massive spending cuts proposed by Obama. I'm talking legitimate cuts, not superficial bullsh*t like 5 billion here, or 10 billion there that people like Keith Olberman tell you is substantial. The federal deficit is what, a little over 14.5 trillion? And that doesn't include unfunded liabilities from things like Social Security that turn that number into something like 50 trillion.

Now THESE guys proposed legitimate spending cuts:

Never said Obama was perfect but for some reason every person acts like they just recently became a politics genius and that Obama is the sole reason for the current mess were in when they have no clue what the hell they are talking about.

Obama didnt do much to help the situation but we were deep in the sh*t before he even became president lets be real.

Now though when he actually wants to get sh*t done he cant because the republicans walking around with their hands over their ears because they dont care about him or the country and are only worried about ruining him so they can get back into office.

The sh*t is a mess

What do you mean everyone is blaming Obama? How many people in this thread alone are solely blaming Bush? Either way, they're idiots. Ignoring an incompetent Congress and dumb c*nts like Nancy Pelosi is a grave mistake.

How much money did Clinton take from Social Security?

The above statement cannot be further from the truth. The Fed's collect over $600 billion from federal income taxes each month. Not only is this enough to pay the interest on our debt but it is also enough to pay our service men and women, send out social security and medicaid check.

We are allowing ourselves to be continually mislead, manipulated and brainwashed by 1 president, 100 Senators, 435 voting members of the House. Granted they are mere puppets to the real leaders...Big pharm, big business and big banks.
Exactly.

An incompetent, lying, cheating, stealing federal government along with a banking system led by the atrocity that is the Federal Reserve has gotten us where we are today.
