He played too much basketball early on. From the start of his NBA career he never had an off season because of his national team responsibilities. Just too much stress for his lower body to take without a long stretch of rest. When he was healthy he was good. He had his weaknesses but he always tried to improve his game, even if his body didn't hold up long enough for those improvements to show.
At least he got a taste of winning in the playoffs..winning that series against Portland. And he will always be at the forefront of the globalization initiative of the NBA. He isn't a hall of famer in terms of his skills, numbers and accomplishments. But I think his impact on the game and being the main reason why the NBA was able to secure a huge place in China should get him in the HOF at some point.
