the thing i don't understand about that is this...the players wouldn't be getting paid right now anyways...why is this sh*t new for them? I think it's just the player union trying to catch feelings for their side. and, at the end of the day, it shows DeSean is smarter with his money than a lot of these n*ggas doing this sh*t...he got enough saved up to still do silly sh*t like this, n*ggas can't have enough saved up to survive the off-season?
Not totally true. Some guys lost out on bonuses for workouts. But more specifically, the problem isn't saving, but the uncertain future. Most of the players who moved are depth players with $300,000 contracts. After taxes, that's about $160K. After agents, lawyers, whatever... that's maybe $120K.
If they've got families, kids, car payment, mortgage, school loans (if they didn't get scholarships) etc, then that money disappears quick. They're middle-of-the-pack players who have no endorsements or anything.
So when that $120K dries up, what can they do when it's time to pay rent? There's no word on the lockout ending for sure. If this carries into the regular season, what happens to the dudes who were budgeted perfectly for that preseason paycheck?
