However with the High ratings the heat are bringing to the nba do you really think stern will allow it? higher rating = more money simple as that.

Doubt it. LJ could play for 10 million a year and his family would still be set for life a.ssuming he's made smart investments and saves. If they really formed this super group to win multiple titles they'll take a pay cut.

Isn't this something that the owners are pushing for along with a 50/50 split on revenue with the players? If that's the case from what I've heard the owners aren't trying to come off that and are ready for a lockout. I doubt it would happen, but could you imagine no NFL and no NBA for all of next season?

at the same time, Bron and Wade got other endorsement monies so if that really happened, they could take a paycut for the sake of the team... but that would be gay... No one complained about how the celts and lakers were stacked in the 80s... smh

LeBron isn't the one who's going to have to worry about taking a pay cut.

no way stern lets this happen...the big 3 have been the best thing to happen to the nba since...well....the big 3 in boston.

nba had been really down for a while, stern knows the heatles bring the haters....which adds revenue.

stern loves large market teams, they bring in the $, and TV viewers.....he could give a f about small markets. why would he let a salary cap go through?

Good if they gone have superstar teams then cut the league down to about 24 teams and make it more competive, I dont want to watch the hornets get sh*tted on every year, and timberwolves get lottery picks for every draft

with this hard cap teams would just have to release players into the wild the day goes into effect? And do standard releasing penalties apply?

Seems like a dumb idea to me.

lol @ these heat fans talkin about haters and conspiracy...no doubt there was outrage at the decision and whatnot but at the end of the day its the most popular team and its not close bron has the #1 jersey this year..but i digress...in the event this happens (which i doubt it will), it will be in an effort of the league to rid itself of a culture of collusion and watering down the NBA. this league is a league devoid of true superstars (5 maybe?) where if you have 1, drastically changes your teams fortunes...well the heat have 2..plus another all star...the league is gonna turn into 3 or 4 voltron teams, and a bunch of garbage a.ss teams that look worse than the NCAA tourney this year, which is bad for the competitive balance thus bad for the league in the long run

This is why I don't understand everyone talking about the end of superteams like it' a foregone conclusion. Unless they force the Heat to breakup their big three, then any other team would still be able to work it out financially under a hard cap. The only other option would be to grandfather in Miami's current salary structure.
That's true partly, but a hard cap would basically make these duds make a decision because what happened in MIA, ya these guys gave up a little bit of money but in the grand scheme of things all these n*ggaz got max deals (wade and bron took like 15M each of their contracts over the 6 yr life)...a hard cap would really make people consider a max deal or gettin somewhere between 30 and 40% of what they could get by teaming up...now that is really sacrificing money which I would commend if anyone did it, but the hard cap would really not only discourage what MIA did, but also reward front offices for making good acquisitions, draft picks, etc...the nba wants to be more like the nfl where you can have superstars in places like Indy, denver, etc
