Mayweather Jr is a far superior boxer than Manny Pacquiao says Shane Mosley

"Sugar" Shane Mosley has been in the ring with the two top pound-for-pound boxers of this era in Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. Within 1 year, Mosley suffered unanimous decision losses to both men. However, his comments on who's the better boxer will surely draw criticism and whip up a furious debate among the die-hard fans of both Floyd and Manny. On Friday night, Mosley stated that Mayweather was a better boxer than Pacquiao. According to Boxingscene.com, Mosley made the following comments after appearing on the "George Lopez Show":
"Pacquiao hits harder. But Mayweather's got him on the boxing skills. Mayweather is a good defensive f!ghter and it's kind of hard finding him in there. Pacquiao, he's a great f!ghter, but it's more of his punch."
The debate between who's the better f!ghter has waged on for the last few years. Since late 2009, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao has dominated the Boxing landscape as boxing pundits and fans clamor for this f!ght. Unfortunately, there's been numerous attempts at contractual negotiations only to fail miserably. Each side blames the other for the failed negotiations.
Mosley fought Mayweather Jr. on May 1, 2010 and looked great in the beginning. In fact, Shane had Floyd in serious trouble in the 2nd round of their f!ght as he rocked Mayweather and had him on wobbly legs. Unfortunately, Mosley was unable to "finish" Mayweather. Floyd rebounded from the second round and took the majority of the last 10 rounds on his way to a unanimous decision victory.
Mosley's performance against Manny was far worse than his performance with Mayweather Jr. Mosley was knocked down in the 3rd round against Manny and spent the next 9 rounds running away from Pacquiao. Manny took every round on the score cards of 2 judges in a Unanimous Decision victory.
Despite Manny dominating Mosley unlike Mayweather, Mosley still believes that Floyd is the better boxer which many boxing pundits will agree. However, we might not ever get the chance to see who's really the best as the sides can't seem to completely agree on the f!ght terms. Over the last 1 1/2 years, both camps have disagreed over financial and drug testing terms.
Currently, Floyd is dealing with 5 separate legal proceedings and it remains uncertain if he will return to the ring. As for Manny, he will f!ght Juan Manuel Marquez in November once he signs the contract. It's believed to be just a mere formality as Manny's adviser Michael Koncz is heading to the Philippines tomorrow to have Manny look over the contract and sign it. For more details on the Pacquiao vs. Marquez f!ght:
Next week, Manny Pacquiao is expected to sign the contract and f!ght Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday, November 12th form the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pacquiao's adviser Michael Koncz will take the contract to Pacquiao in the Philippines and it's expected that Manny will sign. Marquez, who has been waiting 3 years to f!ght Pacquiao again, is celebrating his opportunity and already declares he will be victorious. According to BoxingScene.com, Marquez made the following comments:
"I will beat him and I will do it for all of the Mexican people. It will be a tough f!ght but I will win again just like I did before in 2004 and 2008."
Marquez has lobbied for another f!ght with Pacquiao since their encounter in 2008 that say Pacquiao win by a controversial split decision. However, their first encounter in 2004 was even more controversial as it ended in a draw but one of the judges admitted later that he incorrectly scored the first round when Manny knocked down JMM 3 times.
Marquez has been viewed as the one f!ghter whom has always given Manny a tough time. But Marquez is approaching 38 and some critics believe his skills have declined. Regardless of age, Marquez is still very active and successful at a high level as he's currently a champion in the lightweight division. Marquez will succeed where Shane Mosley failed in his f!ght on May 7th against Manny. Juan will attack and not run. Additionally, Juan won't be afraid to exchange punches with Manny.
Marquez's last venture to the weight level was unsuccessful as he lost to the taller, longer, and heavier Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September 2009. However, Marquez and Pacquiao are similar heights and builds. Which means, that even with Juan coming up 10 pounds or so, it won't be as much of a difference since Manny has a hard time himself getting above the agreed upon catch-weight of 144 pounds.
If Marquez wins then he gets an automatic 4th f!ght that will double his guaranteed purse from the third encounter. Additionally, Marquez will become a champion in his 4th weight class.
