Eminem's impact is as big, if not, bigger that 2pac's.

Whether it's because he's white or whatever, that doesn't change his impact on the world.

n*ggas always want to call out rappers for being fake or selling out... whens the last time Eminem rapped about how much money he has or when's the last time you seen him lookin for cameras stunt on?

Where ever you're from, you got to applaud Eminem for being here today and for what he has done.

If you're from Detroit... there is no one else that represents the city as dynamic and forceful as he does.

Not surprised though.

He's white, famous & raps. Who wouldn't buy things based on his name?

so you think people are going to car dealerships to buy chryslers because they saw eminem in a commercial?? lol not little white teenagers but grown people who probably dont even listen to his music. Could it be because the car is completely redisgned and gets better gas mileage that it's selling? the eminem ad just helped.

People want to support american if they can and the majority of people going to buy brand new cars are not eminems demographic. The new chryslers actually look good that probably had more of an impact on sales than a commercial featuring a rapper

Ps. those cars are actually made partly in Candada lol

Obviously it only helped but advertisers would not pay millions to advertise then(superbowl,or anytime really)if ads didnt work

I can't believe Chrysler sold 10,000 of those ugly a.ss cars. Chargers, 300s, Challengers, and that new Durango are what really helped them move units.

I was doing a car stero installation for a friends Charger...I pulled out the rear seat and that sh*t said...MADE IN CHINA.

well what do you have to say now? this motherfu*ker eminem made a 1 minute long commercial and suddenly manages to sell hundreds of millions of dollars worth of the sh*ttiest cars in the world...

now only imagine if he told sheep to do something else...

Eminem Helps Save Detroit’s Fledgling Auto Industry
All this time, who knew this was all Detroit’s struggling auto industry needed to turn a profit?

Over the course of the last decade or so, sales of American cars have slumped dramatically as foreign rides have become more popular in the United States. American car companies like GM have been subjected to government bailouts to stay afloat and they’ve had to completely rethink the way they do business in order to actually stay in business. It’s been—pun intended—quite a ride for most of them.

But now, at least one American car company is turning a hefty profit and it has very little to do with the product they’re putting out on the street. Earlier this week, Chrysler announced they enjoyed a record-breaking first quarter in 2011—and they’re crediting Eminem (yes, Eminem!) for their success. His appearance in a Chrysler commercial during the 2011 Super Bowl has helped the American car company post a $116 million profit in the first three months of the year—which is up dramatically from last year when they posted a $197 million net loss during the same time period. The commercial we’re referring to, of course, is this one:

The message throughout the Slim Shady advertisement was simple: “This is the Motor City and this is what we do.” It was simple but also very gripping in that it didn’t try and woo consumers with cheesy special effects or an over-the-top marketing plan. It simply used Em as a spokesman for the city of Detroit and made it look cool to drive a Chrysler.

Which is why we’re wondering: Why the hell didn’t someone think of this about five years ago? It’s not like Em just became popular and it’s not like Detroit hasn’t had the reputation of being America’s forgotten city for years now. The D has always served as somewhat of a symbol for America—tough and unforgiving but also patriotic and all about repping for the good old U-S of A. So, why didn’t Ford or GM try this way earlier?

The truth is Em’s appearance was somewhat of a perfect storm. He just came off one of the biggest albums of his career. He was up for a handful of Grammy Awards when the spot aired. His own personal comeback story mirrored that of Detroit’s car companies. And the spot was powerful enough to make us feel as though Em actually believed every last word that was being spoken by the narrator.

And for that, we give Chrysler, Eminem, and the city of Detroit credit. They could have bowed out a long time ago. They could have submitted to the foreign car companies and given up their stronghold on the auto industry. They could have let the D sink further into oblivion. But instead, they fought—and in a single two-minute Super Bowl spot, they changed their entire perception.

Not bad. Not bad at all. Now who else wants to see if Em’s Midas touch can help save their industry?

Marshall reps for Motor City by giving the ailing company a boost.

Chrysler has Eminem to thank for its latest win. The Detroit, Michigan rapper, who appeared in the campaign “Imported From Detroit,” helped Chrysler Group LLC post its first profitable quarter since it filed for bankruptcy two years ago.

Declaring “This is the Motor City and this is what we do” in the two-minute spot, Em is credited in helping boost the company’s profits with the advertisement, which debuted during the Super Bowl. Compared to last year’s $197 million net loss during the same time period, Chrysler posted a $116 million profit this quarter, increasing its net revenues 35 percent to $13.1 million.

“It clearly had a fairly big impact also on market levels with (the) Eminem Super Bowl ad being extremely well-viewed on YouTube,” said Chrysler CFO Richard Palmer. “And introducing the tag line ‘Imported from Detroit.’”

The clip now claims 10.5 million hits on YouTube, averaging out to 1,000 cars sold for every 1 million views. “I think it’s fair to say that we are certainly - internally - very pleased with the results Chrysler has been able to achieve in the first quarter of this year,” said Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne.

The upcoming Chrysler 300 campaign will feature Dr. Dre, Detroit Lions’ Ndamakong Suh and designer John Varvatos.

If it wasn’t already, Chrysler Group LLC’s “Imported from Detroit” tagline is international.

The Super Bowl commercial that introduced the saying won five awards at the Cannes Lions 58th International Festival of Creativity held in Cannes, France.

The commercial - starring Detroit rapper Eminem and featuring the riff from his Academy Award winning track “Lose Yourself” - won four “Gold Lions” for Best Direction, Best Use of Music, Best Script, Best Automotive Commercial and Best Editing; and a “Bronze Lion” for Best Editing, at the award show to honor creativity in communications.

“The Chrysler Brand is humbled to be awarded with such a prestigious honor at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity,” said Olivier Francois, president and CEO of Chrysler Brand and lead executive for marketing, in a statement. “The ‘Born of Fire’ commercial and the ‘Imported from Detroit’ campaign describes the comeback of the Chrysler brand and truly defines American luxury. “

The two-minute commercial was for the Auburn Hills automaker’s new 200. It featured images from Detroit with Eminem driving in the vehicle. Near the end, Eminem approaches a singing chorus and says, “This is the Motor City and this is what we do.”

The International Festival of Creativity – Cannes Lions – is the world's leading celebration of creativity in communications. As the most prestigious international annual advertising awards, over 24,000 entries from all over the world are showcased and judged at the Festival.

In May, Chrysler gave the commercial credit for helping post a $116 million profit in the first three months of the year, compared to a $197 million net loss the same time period in 2010.

The “Imported from Detroit” national advertising campaign was created in partnership with Wieden+Kennedy of Portland, Ore.

Since the 200 commercial aired with Eminem, a series of ads for the Chrysler 300 have debuted starring well-known names in Detroit, including Detroit Lions defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh; New York fashion designer John Varvatos, a native Detroiter; and Eminem’s mentor Dr. Dre.

The original Eminem commercial has nearly 12 million hits on YouTube.
