yes they do, this is about customer service and regaining customer trust...ps3 is supposed to come with psn; there was an unplanned outage of psn service= they owe us some form of compensation...

this is the right thing to do in order to keep customers.

also... since dc universe is offered as a psn download, i would like that game. thanks sony.

nicca they said NEW and CURRENT OWNERS!!!!

edit: my bad, the beginning of the article says "new and existing psn members", but the updated portion says "existing psn owners get a free 30 day membership to ps+ and Q" and " ps + members get 30 more days for free"

who knows, you may get lucky and they do it for new and existing owners...they would if they are smart

Sure they do, I had to go to the bank and cancel my debit card because of this bullsh*t. Then they're only going to "consider" providing credit monitoring? That's bullsh*t. We trusted Sony with our information and we shouldn't have to worry about it being stolen. They didn't immediately alert people as to what was happening and then they still are trying to say they aren't sure if credit card info was taken. I call BS on that. If you ask me they aren't doing enough.

good sh*t!!

New Security measures:

• Accelerating the move of data severs from San Diego to a different location (unmentioned).
• Enhancing the detection capabilities for unauthorized intrusions.
• Enhanced Software monitoring.
• Enhanced levels of encryption.
• Enhanced ability to detect software intrusions within the network.
• Implementation of additional firewalls.
• Created a position of Chief Information Officer to monitor the network.
• PS3 will have a system update that will require all PS3 users to change their passwords, which can only be changed on the same PS3 where it was created or through a validated email confirmation.
• Sony will consider covering the cost of reissuing new cards for those affected.
• Sony will consider paying for identity theft protection services in each country of those affected.

• Sony will implement a program to provide global customers will exclusive premium content; free content, 30 day free PS+, current PS+ users will receive 30 days of free service.

change it via internet and confirm through your email

I bought a legit ps3, moved my main psn account to the legit, and just set up a dummy account for my hacked ps3...could give a fukk if it scans or bans the dummy account, but i dont want them to auto update my hacked ps3 via their new security.

Sony brought this on themselves. They bragged about the PS3 being 'unhackable', which of course invites hackers to try to hack it. Then when someone does hack it, they prosecute (kind of like the dude who picks a f!ght then runs to the cops when he gets beat), thereby pissing off every other hacker out there. I'm not saying that Sony is completely to blame, but their actions helped lead to this.

Because you can't blame Sony for it technically...I mean if your computer is hacked and your information taken does Dell reimburse you? Can you sue Dell for it? Hell no...Sony is doing something they don't have to do here.
Apples and Oranges. It's not Dell's network, but that was a nice try. I'm not even really disagreeing with him totally, but he seems like one of the few Pro Sony guys on here who is pretty much giving them a total pass on all of this like it's no big deal. This is a customer service issue, you actually do have to do something. Their stock has taken a hit albeit small and I know for a fact that some people have jumped the gun traded in their consoles and got 360s. They are a public company that have to explain sh*t like this to their shareholders and what they are going to do to fix it so they kinda do have to do something.
