Ehh....sounds like the normal causal listener who sees mainstream hip-hop videos on tv & thinks that's what every hip-hop artist talks about.
Ya, that's how I see it. We're quick to get mad at the casual or non-listeners, instead of having an issue with media for only glorifying certain aspects of Hip Hop.

She said "most," not "all." And it's not as if she's wrong. We just tend to overlook it and become defensive whenever someone from the "outside" calls out Hip Hop. For the most part, it's always been this way, but on a lower-scale in past generations. There was more of a balance within the culture and music. Nowadays, it's glorified and over-saturated in the industry and throughout the media.

It seems much easier to make a hit record when the content is s3xually, romantically, or negatively geared towards women, than it is to attain success creating anything substantial.

Ah, to put it simply: s3x & Chaos sells.

s3xual lyrics and r*pe Culture are 2 FAR different things. r*pe culture is very specific and I have heard very few if any songs glorifying r*pe.

Also, I have never seen anything that explicit on tv. Puffy just released a R&B cd that doenst degrade women.

And you are right I dont like when "outsiders" judge my culture because they have no understanding of it. Same with Oprahs dumbass. But I bet if Denzel came out and called country music racist and oppressive to minorities there would be a huge backlash, but it is cool to identify a whole culture as r*pe culture.

She used to be fine, but ignorance is not cute. Ask her if the man that messed with her was listening to rap.

cant take this with any type of validity until i know how much rap/hip hop she actually listens to. i'm fine with this being your a.ssesstment of the genre, but only if you listened to enough of it to make such a judgement.

I just don't understand why she would just pick hip hop to bash? Because it's easy to do? Why doesn't she pick at the industry she birthed her career in? OHHHH because films are a form of art and hip hop is just chicken scratch.

she right tho.

look at who she is, and her perspective of hip hop culture. Look at what we, as active participants in hip hop culture present.
if you feel she's right then she should be more so concerned on the women that embrace and PROFIT from the lifestyle these rappers convey, that should be her real problem but im sure its something she overlooks

Yeah but the media wouldn't air it if there wasn't a demand for it. The finger needs to be pointed at the ones pouring their money into the non-sense.
