Yea, Jeezy version ok but Frees is better IMO, Mainly because of the G.O.A.T, Brad Jordan being featured.

Sampling as an art form is largely dependent on how well the producer flips the sample. You have SOME records out here with samples from mid-to-late 90's from R&B and the sh*t's is DOPE.

Just because a artist that is well known doesnt mean a sample from them will suck, it depends on the producer.

I don't think the sample was intended to be hidden from the original artist (Shook Ones II is an iconic record in rap.. The would have already gotten sued for it if it was the case).. Sometimes a producer will arrange a deal with the original artist so that they don't have to put credit for the sample, but they still have permission to use it..

Because the sample is just so obscure or whatever..

Same case with The Game's "Church for Thugs"..

I've been trying to find that sample since the album came out and no luck..
i think i remember seeing an interview with havoc where he said he was just so unorganized back then and would make countless beats. he would handle everything himself so he never had anyone catalog/document anything he would sample, so when it came down to actually using certain beats he didnt have any record of what he used for what.

I never said the quality of one was better than the other. I appreciate obscure samples, that's all.

Anyone can say they'll sample Willie Hutch, Ahmad Jamal, Barry White, Bob James, Curtis Mayfield, etc.. And if they do so, it's perfectly fine. But I love when I'm looking up the sample credits to an album and I discover a less well known name from the 60's or 70's who got lost in obscurity.. Then I can dig up their collection and listen to it.. That's just me though .

this is fu*king genius.

In part, this is what hip hop is capable of at its best, IMO. Samples make me want to go back and find what the hell was sampled to figure out why it was sampled, and at the same time makes me appreciate the original artist that was sampled.

fu*kin amazing....

to even think to sample "a piano melody from the song and slowe it down at two different pitches to create a two-bar loop" I dont think some ppl understand the talent and dedication to even achieve this...

and fu*kin amazing for "Bronco" to even recognize this in a song from 1969. and if you listen to the original Herbie Hancock song...there is now way to even hear that melody...

im fu*kin amazed.....
word, that sh*t sounded nothing alike until the drums kicked in, i damn near fell of my chair when that happened

sh*t got me hyped as fu*k
