new West Coast and Southern Hip Hop >>> new east coast hip hop

East coast seriously lagging behind when it comes to relatively new artists

Who does the east really have thats new and hot? South has artists like Jay Elec, Big Krit, J Cole, Yelawolf, B.o.b., while the West is going through a mini-revival with artists like Dom Kennedy,Kendrick Lamar, Pac Div, Blu, Odd Future, Fashawn, Nipsey Hussle

I don't even know if the east got new artists that come close to Blu, Fashawn, Dom Kennedy, Kendrick, Pac Div, KRIT, Cole and Jay Elect.

The problem with new school East Coast hiphop is that their beats are generic. Red Kafe is the posterboy for the generic type of NY emcee that Im talking about. Every song sounds the same, and every rapper from New York also sounds the same nowadays. Sitting through a full mixtape of a NY rapper is like hearing the same song for an hour. Fabolous and Cam are one of the few guys out right now who break through the typical mold.

Yup....this post is full of real talk.

West takin sh*t over tho...

Blu
Nipsey
Kendrick Lamar + all the TDE members (they all go hard)
Fashawn
Dom Kennedy
Pac Div
Horseshoe G.A.N.G

i personally don't fu*k with odd future tho...

south got a lot of new up and coming talent too...and now their up and comers actually got talent.

East really doesn't have to new MC's coming out hard...

Not a huge fan of vado, need to be put on to more skyzoo

But I forgot DZA was from the east (Harlem). George Kush da Button was piff. Hell, the whole cinematic music group is k!lling the game right now

Midwest also sh*ts on the east right now

DZA doesn't sound like most rappers from the East, I thought he was from the West or South at first too.

Forgot all about Sene, the homie that works a lot with Blu. He's from Brooklyn if I'm not mistaken.

Vado is pretty boring at times, I only listen to him because of Cam tbh. East Coast fell off.

Out of the south i give u Jay Elec and Big KRIT but J cole aint nuthin special, yelawolf is just a mix of em and twista and b.o.b. was good b4 he got signed and the west i def give u all those guys except Horseshoe Gang belongs on that list

Now im from the east and im agreeing with this statement, the only person that i can think of off the top of my head thats newer and hot from the east is Fred The Godson, I'm just thinkin of it this way, maybe our artist we have r so good that we just dont need that many new artist :dancingcool:

Yea I was thinking how a lot of the easts great rappers are still putting out heat like mos def, kweli, wu-tang, Nas, redman, the roots, etc....meanwhile the same isn't true for the south/west coast greats. Prob because the east coast scene used to run sh*t, and has more greats then other regions..

And I'm from the east too so def no hate for the region we just aren't coming with it like we used to
