yeah but you know when the UFC puts the hype machine behind someone, all the casual fans start chiming in. That was a great win last night for Bones, but Anderson is one of the GOAT, and if you think JBJ is going to throw around Anderson like that you have another thing coming.

I dont care what anyone says either, Phil Davis has the tools to beat JBJ. No way JBJ takes Phil down or manhandles him in the clinch. Mr. Wonderful can take him down and control him.
You're putting a lot of stock in Mr. Wonderful. Davis is going to get his test next weekend against Little Nog. .I say after this f!ght (if he beats Nog), give him the winner of Hamill/Page, and then we can start talking about Phil Davis matching him up.

JBJs reach and creativity enables him able to manhandle people that typically don't get Manhandled. JBJ eats wrestlers. It's not because he outwrestles them, it's because of his diversity. He's not shooting for doubles. He's utilizing Sweeps, Judo Trips, and Judo throws in addition to his traditional wrestling maneuvers.

JBJ needs a few more big f!ghts under his belt as Silva is a different beast to what he has ever faced and has years more ring craft under his belt. If Bones can manage 2-3 impressive defenses then people can talk about that f!ght because as it stands Silva will put his toe in the n*ggas chin like he did in his last f!ght, Jones is not quite ready for that f!ght yet.

GSP Vs Anderson is the next f!ght for the Spider in my eyes, pending if GSP wins his next bout. We are talking about two f!ghters who have totally dominated their divisions so the f!ght is natural progression and is the one everyone is screaming out for, not Jons Vs Anderson!

No doubt I am putting a lot of stock in Phil Davis. I readily admit that he hasnt proven himself yet. But when I watch him f!ght I am amazed. He is physically the strongest guy in the LHW division and his wrestling is top notch and his BJJ is up there also, I mean he did win the No gi championship a couple of years ago. I just think Phil Davis has enough top control to grind out a decision.

Plus Phil is very creative himself especially with his holds and subs. Plus his stiking will be getting increasingly better every time you see him since he trains with Vera and Cain.

I have thought this for a while not just after the f!ght last night.

but all in all the JBJ hype machine needs to relax. He has no title defenses yet, spider would abuse him.

Davis does have the tools to beat Bones, but he needs to improve his striking quite a bit before he becomes a true threat...

Davis has excellent wrestling, good BJJ, athleticism, etc...but to take Bones down he will need to be able to hold his own striking-wise to open windows for takedowns...

on another note: Silva vs. Bones is premature conversation....Bones needs to defend that belt and "clean" out the division before enlisting in superf!ghts...he has plenty of work ahead of him...

no doubt, i think he can do it. The f!ght against Lil Nog will show us a lot about his development.

I really hope that Phil goes up to train with Duke Rufus or to Golden Glory for a little to get his striking training on point.

its not going to happen.

Jon Jones is the new face of the UFC... Champion in the premier weight division of the UFC. There is no way Dana would risk a f!ght between his two champions, have have one or the other lose.

it may happen but not for another 3 years

This is about money, UFC is about money.. They want this super f!ght to happen to generate what would possibly be the biggest PPV draw in UFC history..

But I think they will have Jones f!ght atleast 2 more f!ghts and go on a marketing tour to promote himself better.. Similar to what they did with Rampage when he first beat Liddell when UFC was starting to get mainstream..

I don't think UFC gives a f**k about Silva much, and cares more about Jones because he's more marketable to the American audience.. Silva can't speak a lick of f**kin english nor does he even attmept to.. You really can't market athletes like that, one reason why you never see him on any mainstream late night talk shows like letterman because whats he going to do bring his translator with him?

Rampage when he beat Liddell was extremely marketable(all over late night t.v when he first one that big f!ght), he was exciting, but just isn't that good enough to hold the crown..

Im a fan of Jones, but i didnt think he would be ready for the title shot last night. Just thought it was too soon, but damn was i wrong. His game looked great last night and made Shogun look totally over matched. But like most in the thread, i think he needs a few more f!ghts before going after Silva. That guy makes almost everyone look like they shouldn't even be in there f!ghting.

Anderson Silva is one of my favorite f!ghters, but it seems like you have something against Bones...

I am indeed a fan of Mr. Wonderful. I think he's great for the sport, and I definitely like what I'm seeing when he f!ghts. BUT you mention his BJJ, and his wrestling. And JBJ has shown time and time again how much effect wrestlers have on him... 0 and you mention his Lloyd Irvin BJJ credentials. He's only a Blue Belt. Brandon Vera was a Brown Belt under Irvin and we saw what happened to him. Shogun was a Black Belt notorious for getting under people and easily sweeping them. NEUTRALIZED You talk about JBJ not proving himself, yet you put all of this stock into Mr. Wonderful, who has shown EVEN LESS than JBJ...

I just feel that you're mostly discounting JBJ's accomplishments. No matter what you think, Shogun is one of the nastiest f!ghters I've seen f!ght. I remember seeing him break my boy Rampage's ribs and Soccer Kick him into Oblivion back in Pride. Rampage is notoriously tough to finish. He hasn't been finished since '05 which was coincidentally Shogun. And Shogun made it look EASY.

Bones, on the other hand did the same thing to Shogun. There's no reason why the hype train shouldn't be going strong. There were haters when he fought Hamill, He demolished him. There were haters when he fought Bader, He demolished Bader. There were HATERS when he fought Shogun, and he delivered probably the most brutal @$$ Shogun has seen in his career. The Hype is well founded and well earned.

This f!ght will NEVER happen. First Bones would have to completely wipe out the LHW division, which could take up to 3 years. By Then Silva will be upper 30's and may not be in his prime anymore.

Davis is a blue belt, Bones is a white belt, who beat a black belt in Shogun...in MMA, other factors than BJJ skills come into play, size, strength, etc...Davis has won various tournaments, which is more than can be said about other f!ghters, so he is obviously a lot better than would seem...technically, Matt Hughes is a white belt...

Davis is much larger/stronger than Shogun and Vera, it's safe to a.ssume he may achieve more success with being able to move his hips while underneath Bones...or maybe he could sub Bones if he got a takedown...

but at the moment, Bones beats Davis imo....but in the future, Davis does have a good submission game that exceeds his 'paper rank' of Blue belt...

Jones needs like at least 3 defenses.. Maybe more. Griffin, Rampage/Hammil, Evans (who's lined up next) winner of Davis/Little Nog, Machida possibly... There are a lot of intriguing matchups in the LHW div. Plus if Strikeforce comes over in a couple years, Hendo (it's a stretch but stylistically the f!ght I want to see, especially looking at the Hendo/Silva f!ght), King Mo, Mousasi... Possibilities are endless. The belt seems to be cursed, but it's only because it's the most competitive and talent stacked division.
