Why are you still arguing about this? You're clearly wrong...just shut up already.

Nobody in here posted anything other than their account balance and you came in here talking about it leading to identity theft like a dumb a.ss. Did anyone post their account or ss#? NO.

You lost.
Yup I lost..

This thread has got me motivated to save. :D

At the moment I'm 25 next week. Got a vacation booked for next month and all the money I have saved (£1000) is for spending money there. I still live at home and really do throw my money away, its a damn shame.

How much do you guys try to put away each month?

the college struggle...fu*k dont miss those days.. well the partying yes but the constant grind no. What was worse I went to school with tons of kids whos parents paid for their tuition, living, and bought them a car while there were people like me who had to grind at part time jobs to supplement myself ontop of the full time course load and student loan. I feel the struggle!! But let me tell you, it does get better... finished degree w about 35k in student loans at 25. the day you write your last exam, the day you get your first real job out of college, the day you get your first career paycheck you realize the hardship was all worth it. your income will grow exponentially once you start working full time.. 28 now, just under 6 figures in my accounts, student loan paid and property on the horizon. Nowhere near where I want to be but this sh*t doesn't just happen you have to work at it and be dilligent and find ways to still maintain an enjoyable quality of life while still saving and investing.

One thing I regret doing is applying for all scholarships and bursaries, didn't do it until my last year and got 8k removed off my loan and 1.5k reduction towards tuition - for applying to sh*t nobody else was.. well I did have to state my case and write an essay but point is most people don't take the effort, trust me it helps. Secondly dont do bullsh*t part time work take the time and find the higher paying part time work e.g. commission sales, event marketing reps, sh*t i got a job with a major retailer demo'ing how to print a picture on one of their printers for 27 bucks an hour, it was stupid, you just need to look in the right places. Not knocking other jobs but your time is limited as a college student so take the time to find a propper job to maximize your income. Lastly, having friends who are not broke that have your back helps. While i was in college i lucked out and locked down a girl who was working and already done school - its nice to have someone else who can take care of dinner, bartab etc every once in a while, it kept me sane!

I usually dont post anything but seeing all those broke a.ss college accounts brought me back so I feel like I need to pass the knowledge down. I had a friend who was a financial planner, I worked with him to get good money sense the minute i graduated... I didnt save all of what i have now, I invested and recieved good returns, the point is get good advice and follow their system as soon as you start makign good money. I don't have the patience for trading so I made sure my FP was personaly invested in teh same sh*t he invested me into so i KNEW he would be watching the investment accounts like a hawk, and call me lucky but it has been a good few years despite the sh*t in the economy.

if you're not in college but still suck at saving, get a FP to help you or learn one of the many systems for managing money and implement it.. it was HARD for me to learn how to budget after i started working but you will thank yourself when you are my age!

hope this was helpful.
